I prefer the look of the 19. To me it just seems like there is the right balance of wheel and tire, and I like the aero-looking cover. Although, the 20 might be easier to keep clean, not as many nooks and crannies.
The smaller the wheel - the better the range.19. More rubber means smoother ride. Also if you look at the specs 19 gets better range.
Hahaha Yes, you are correct! The "looks" factor, which is generally perceived by some as being proportional to wheel diameter, has been overtaken by the decrease in tire aspect ratio (negative effect on looks factor -- suggests "street racer" or possibly even worse, "dope peddler"! 😆). In addition, there are the factors mentioned by others such as curb rash! The look of the 20" is is not greater than the increase in range of the 19"...speaking mathematically.
I wonder if it is not just the weight of the larger rims, but also other model trim weight differences (AWD vs FWD, etc.)?Im not going to argue about the ride quality of a lower profile tire but I did want to point out that the 20 inch Dunlops are also wider, not sure if the 20 inch rim is wider.
235x55 vs 255x45. The range difference is due to the weight of the rim.
My Platinum Plus is ordered with the 20"s
I definitely like the 20" wheels. Our 19" hub caps are copper color, not gray. What country are you from?
Interesting! Thank you for that insight. Do you know about what the total weight difference is between the two wheel sizes?Nope, if you build a 4wd car with the 20’s the range drops. Remove the 20’s and the range jumps back up.
The copper color hub caps are only for Premiere version. The remainder 19 inch wheels come with grey. Please see the link below. I have seen the grey 19inch wheels in ride events.I definitely like the 20" wheels. Our 19" hub caps are copper color, not gray. What country are you from?
I plan to keep my 19" tires and upgrade to aftermarket wheels. However, most aftermarket and OEM wheels are 19" x 8.5". Current wheels are 19" x 7.5" or 20" x 8". Does anyone know if 19" x 8.5" will fit in the Ariya without any type of modification?
I think it's more likely increased drag and rolling resistance from the wider tires. Also they are two completely different tires, so the compound of the wider one could have higher rolling resistance. I'm guessing the design of the 20" wheels is less aerodynamic than the 19" as well. But rotational mass probably isn't a big factor. The range difference is due to the weight of the rim.
Ok. Thank you! I can live with the 19" gray hubcaps for my Pearl White Evolve +. I am not too excited about copper color hubcaps. The copper color hubcaps would look odd on white SUV.The copper color hub caps are only for Premiere version. The remainder 19 inch wheels come with grey. Please see the link below. Portugal. Here I can only get those 20'' with a sport pack, which includes leather interior. I prefer the black one (half leather, half alcantara) so i'll keep the 19'' ones.I definitely like the 20" wheels. Our 19" hub caps are copper color, not gray. What country are you from?
