$20,000 above MSRP?

Nissan dealer in Naples, Florida just contacted me. My Ariya had arrived. The sales manager said that they would add a market adjustment of $20,000. NO WAY! Then I contacted the Nissan support line. I informed the support person that the local dealer intended to charge an additional $20,000. She just replied that dealers are all independent. No remorse or concern on her part. I have cancelled my reservation.

HVS, did you have a reservation?
I expected games and nonsense from Florida dealerships but this takes the cake. After months of waiting for a car you ordered, they really try to stick it to you before the finish line.

Wow 20k! All that money and it's still not a Porsche! When I was shopping around for a dealer, there was one dealership here in the Pacific Northwest that said they were going to add only 10k! 😆. That's terrible and shame on them!

Yes I did have a reservation.
Did you try to change the dealer?
No. I was so disappointed that I did not want anymore contacts with Nissan people.

That's really scummy and I'm sorry. It seems like some dealerships are going to try their best to get reservationists to back out of their reservations so they can sell Ariya's for greater profit. (n)

If that is their game, it is short-sided. Consumers will remember. Plus more and more competitive EVs are entering the market. I like the Fisker Ocean which has no dealerships.

Interesting that HGreg showed 2 Ariya for below MSRP on Cars.com. Not sure if that is a come on price or what.

Edited typo

Likely too good to be true.

They call it their "savings" but there is an asterisk next to it -- probably some fine print further down the page

It’s prolly right. EV market is starting to cool. At this point I do t see them selling these at much above MSRP. Remember for those that did not have a binding agreement there will be no tax credit to claim.
That is why I contacted my initial dealership early on. They said they would add 5K market adjustment. I said no thank you and contacted a small town Nissan dealer I had dealt with before. Straight up MSRP. I moved the reservation immediately and it seems to have had no effect on the delivery time as I was warned it might. Mine is due in next week.

What’s the name of the dealer?

How hard does it take to switch to another dealer from your dashboard, or ask Nissan to switch the dealership? It makes no sense to flat out cancel the order after waiting for months unless you were having second thoughts about buying an Ariya.

Not surprised. 3 Orlando area dealers were asking for $10K markup when I contacted them in the summer (to move my reservation).

I moved my reservation to another FL dealership with a lower markup. One dealer promised MSRP but provided nothing in writing.

You can't move your order now. Too late. It locked a month or so ago.

Savings is meaningless... there's a FL Jeep dealership here that advertises $3K discounts off MSRP but slaps $8K markup plus $3500 dealer add-on.

Ignore website prices for FL dealers. It's all BS except those who have "No haggle pricing" like Mullinax, Holler, etc.
Surprising to hear this. I contacted my dealer today and he confirmed (verbally and in email) that there is no markup for reservations as they have next to no holding charges or build slot charges. Also said that they aren’t permitted to markup reservation holders. Cars on lot are marked up by 5k
