Adding shock, tiltr & glass break sensors?

483 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  rockgod
My wife had her purse stolen smash 'n grab from her car back in 2007. Now she is extra careful to not leave anything in plain sight. But she also now gets alarms put in her cars. So, the Ariya comes with a security system to some degree. But it doesn't have shock, tilt, glass break sensors. I took the car to a shop that does aftermarket alarms, and at least that shop said that he doesn't touch electric cars, too specialized and different than conventional cars. So, I was wondering what my options might be. Any ideas?

There is a dealer installed sensor for this. "Security Impact Sensor"

Although most dealers try to sell an add on anyway with those features during financing.
Thanks!!!! The dealer did not mention that as even an option and I specifically asked about an alarm! They did of course try to sell me lots of other crap like a Lojack, etc. I did get the 100,000 mile warranty but declined everything else they tried to sell me.

But, that impact sensor is really inexpensive and I will get it right away! Thanks.

A Garmin Dash Cam will have everything you need plus it records video of anything that triggers the motion and vibration. You’ll get instant notifications via a Garmin app. Some models have GPS tracking too. An alarm is not an effective deterence if it’s a smash and grab.

I plan to install a Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 when I have the time. I prefer Garmin because of the brand recognition. I’m sure you can find plenty of dash cams for what you need.
Yeah, we will put a dash cam in it too. I am surprised that it doesn’t basically come with one like Teslas. She totaled her Rogue Sport a while ago. She was ticketed for the accident. And I am 99% certain it was her fault, but I wasn’t there. But she still disputes it and now insists on having a dashcam.

I know that alarms are of limited value but she wants it. And the Nissan option seems like it will fit the bill.

Thanks for your input.
