Hi all,
I've noticed that when I preheat the car, the airconditioning is very loud from the outside. I can't upload video to show this but has anyone else noticed this?
Is this a general thing with EVs?
(From the inside, due to the Ariya's excellent sound insulation, I can't hear anything)

When it's in the garage I can hear it clearly inside the house, standing near the garage door. In the parking lot at work (near a busy road) it's not noticeable at all unless I'm right next to it. I am surprised just how loud it is too. And yes, as you said, dead silent inside the car. This is my first BEV, so I really can't say how it compares to other EVs with heat pumps.

I haven’t taken delivery of my Ariya yet. However as a retired HVAC guy I’m not surprised by you comments. I suspect what you’re hearing is noise generated by the combined operation of a compressor and at least two fans. The fact that you’re not hearing heat pump operation inside the cabin, obviously Nissan has done a superior job of sound attenuation.
