Got notice this morning - car is in. Can I come to dealership today. Ok, I'm retired - no problem. We are first Ariya at this dealership. Not saying where just yet. Car had " illuminated kick plates" added for several hundred $$. Then"additional installed equipment" for $389. What's that? Wheel locks "we always add". "I don't want". "No sir, can't remove". Back and forth. I walk. I'm just pissed.

Did you talk with the manager? Also, did you see the window sticker? They will show factory added items on the window sticker, other items are dealer added. Do you sign the binding agreement, which implies to me you can choose any dealer.

I have looked at some of the various window stickers online and some do include illuminated kick plate and floor mats, which are additional manufacturer added items.

So are they going to transfer the car to another dealer to complete the transaction?

Manager contacted me and removed the wheel locks. They were dealer added. I was willing to accept the factory added kick plates. So, I'm going ahead with purchase. I don't feel like I "won". What I feel is indignity that I have to go through with this BS.

My wife certainly says I'm stupid. Should I grovel back down there? I have a feeling Nissan has told them no games with reservations. But this is a game
Nissan has been piss poor with communication so not sure “no games with reservations” was put out there. Would have been nice for clarity and peace of mind. Mindset so be prepare for battle but hope things actually go smoothly with your car and no hoops to jump thru.

From the window stickers that I've seen, there are factory added costs for premium paint (different levels -- 395, 695, perhaps also 995), sometimes for floor mats (230 or 250 if they throw in a first aid kit), and I've seen the factory add the kick plates (495) to vehicles where they were not standard. Wheel locks sounds like a dealer added option, although I'm not sure. Sounds like they might be overpriced, but maybe it's inflation. I don't want the dealership adding things that I didn't ask for, and inquired with my dealership to make sure that they would not engage in this practice. My original dealership said that they would honor MSRP, but they were going to install a bunch of stuff, and of course charge me for it, so I changed dealerships. However, if my current dealership breaks their promise, I can choose to keep my money and get my $500 back, too. I wouldn't characterize that as stupid. Alternatively, consider that reservationists receive a $1240 credit, so if all the nonsense items add up to less than $1240, AND the dealership knocks off $1240...hmmmm...

So glad they did that for you! Yes, it is an indignity. Remember they need to apply the $1240 reservationist offer! Also, some forum members have said that to get the $500 deposit back there is some way to do it online (just goes back to credit card), but I'd rather it be applied to purchase.

I just got call from dealer that my car is in and there were 3 items added as well
View attachment 901
that was my configuration and price as well. The wheel locks were dealer added (“we always add those”) for $389. Those were removed after my protestation. The dealer knew about the $1240 discount and $500 deposit and applied those —initially— but at some point in the paperwork show the $500 disappeared. I had to bring that up again a few times along the way and, in the end, it was applied although just somehow deducted without a line item from the amount owed. So, review your paperwork carefully. With the weekend and holiday we will not pick up until Tuesday at the earliest. Purchase and sale was in 2022, which is something I was hoping for in the remote chance that that helps any, again likely remote, application for federal credit (I know the transition rule does not specify sale has to be by end of year.

Oh yah, there was the usual push for extented warranties, spray protections, and who knows what - no, no, and no thank you.

I’m glad we are getting the car — and to a more positive point, yes, it drives very well and meets my expectations!

Appears the illuminated kick plates is an easy money grab so they must have added it on all the vehicles.
The illuminated kick plates are supposed to already come with the premiere version, I wonder what the alternative money grab will be?

On the window stickers I looked at, the floor mats would be on some Premiere units. The Evolve seems to commonly have the illuminated kick plates and floor mats. The Venture tended to have nothing added, probably because it's the base long range model.

Let us know who that dealership is so we can SHAME THEM! The power of the people to boycott them for bogus business practice!

This invoice is for the Evolve + not the Premiere version. Although it is strange that the factory added this option to the Evolve + for no apparent reason. I ordered the Evolve + model as well and when the time comes for my delivery if I’m forced to accept a factory option other than paint up charge/carpets - my first phone call when I get home will be an email followed up by a phone call to the Nissan hotline to ask WTF ? IMHO this factory option is clearly unjustified by Nissan and no matter how you slice it we’re not talking “Watts To Freedom“ here.

I will post the dealership name after I take possession of the vehicle next week. I don't think I've pointed out any behavior here that is out of the ordinary for many (most?) dealerships.
I was just hoping that the "reservationist" standing would have smoothed things a bit more, as it apparently has for others' experiences.

I'm confused. Did you not select those options (including two-tone paint) when reserving the vehicle?
When reserving, it was just model trim level (venture, evolve, etc.), exterior and interior color, and dealership. I thought there was supposed to be an intermediate step where the customer is contacted and any additional options could be specified, but it looks like they've decided to skip that part and stick you with a few items.
