I had this strange feeling this scenario would happen and even mentioned it in other posts on the forum but now it seems to be coming true. I just got a call from my dealer that they have an Ariya incoming and although they're not sure yet whether it's their demo or a customer vehicle there's a good chance it's mine since I'm the only one with a reservation through them. They expect it to arrive by Friday and of course that just happens to be the day before I'm scheduled to leave town to go to Japan after two years of canceled plans to return there to feed my Japanese car and pop culture obsession. And since I'm still working the whole day Friday even if it does arrive that doesn't exactly give me much time to actually get it.
Yup, after waiting impatiently for over a year for my first EV to arrive there's a good chance the fates have decided to be the ultimate tease and will force me to wait even longer to get it. At least I can rest assured that the dealer won't try to sell it out from under me since I've been a good customer of theirs for nearly two decades now and the manager already knew about my trip. Most likely if I can't pick it up before I leave they'll just put it in their showroom for people to ooh and ahh over until I get back to claim it.
Part of me kinda hopes it's just their demo Ariya so I can just take it for a quick test drive and then maybe mine will arrive right when I get back from my trip but of course the other part hopes my wait finally gets rewarded with an actual car. Ah, first world problems lol.
