Yes, lack of competition is terrible here. There is only one Nissan dealer on my isleThe freakish high MSRP markup is because they have limited competition in that state. How many Nissan dealers are there in HI?

I’m not sure. We have solar and charge at home (currently have a Bolt and a Kia EV)They will make plenty of money on NON Reservation holders which is SAD also. Glad to be a Reservation Holder in this market. Good Luck Do you have EVGO charging statiopns in Hawaii.
One could only hope. I mean let’s be real, when you look at Nissans current offerings and what is on the horizon, outside of the Z things don’t look to great. Nissan can commit all the money they want to expand EV production, but until they actually start producing more EVs it’s just talk. You look at Hyndia and KIA and they have some really cool EVs and Ioniq 6 on the way. I wouldn’t really want to buy a car but the Ioniq 6, I would t actually mind owning. As you noted they have a ton of debt which is really going to hurt them as they move forward. Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out as time moves. You also gotta think the legacy dealership model is only hurting things when I can go buy a Tesla online with no gimmicks or dealer “add ons” Still some people like to feel like are being treated like a king at the dealership when buying a new car, when reality the sales people are silently laughing at how much money they made by ripping people off.I recently saw a story where Nissan's CEO said they had underestimated the EV demand for North America. He added that Nissan was committing $530 million to expand EV production in the U.S., coming on line in 2024 or 25. This from a company that has 63 billion dollars in long-term debt. Meanwhile, Tesla is working on a 1.5 billon dollar expansion on its Texas giga-factory. Is this a question of too little, too late for Nissan. Down the road, will they even be around to provide service and support on the Ariyas now being delivered? We can only hope!
Most of the debt is based on car loans, which will be large when you have millions of loans. This will be true for most establish car companies, with millions of cars sold. From what I could find, the debt number is about half what you indicated.I recently saw a story where Nissan's CEO said they had underestimated the EV demand for North America. Yes most certainly, the Ariya has been a great seller for Nissan and will only further their EV market share. Since the development of the groundbreaking Nissan Leaf they have learned many things that has given them a competitive advantage over their competition. These include superior build quality, unrivaled reliability and game changing innovation with the addition of the available HUD. I’m excited for the new Ariya and as EVs begins to take over Nissan is Gonna have leg up on the competition. In fact among Japanese Big 3, Nissan is in the best position in EV space. The Toyota BZ4X is just a product disaster. Expensive, low range and wheels came off literally and figuratively. Dealers around me are hiding them in the back so they meet corporate ask but not let any customers see them LOL.
Toyota just announced a new CEO due to this failure.
Honda just announced a massive reorg as their EV strategy is so fragmented. Three directions of outsource to GM Ultium, Partner with Sony and make their own. Who comes up with this??
Nissan is the only one that has a great chance of viability in EV market as they know what they are doing with Leaf and now Aria. Of course Koreans are ahead of Japanese Inc in EV space for sure. Nissan platform also is shared with Renault and that should increase its use and shared R&D.
I would say among Japanese bigs, Nissan is best placed in EV market.
I picked up mine yesterday ride was quiet and smooth. I went to attach my Child in Car magnet on liftgate, fell to ground. The liftgate is PLASTIC materai.. I was surprised. will have to go with window sticker. Also wished the rear windows were tinted but still VERY Happy. We picked up our Ariya Venture+ yesterday (1/27/23) at our dealership in NJ! Reservation # 300xx. This is our first EV and first time ever purchasing a vehicle! We were the dealerships second sale and the entire process couldn’t have gone better. Our sales guy (who I’ve been in touch with over the past year) knew how to apply the reservationist discount ($1240) and the $500 Nissan deposit (and another $500 deposit we had paid the dealership directly). No dealer markups/added fees and they honored MSRP. We are in LOVE with Ariya! It rides like a dream and feels like a yacht gliding through the clouds while on the road. Drove about 20 miles yesterday running errands around town and we could already see heads turning 😉 The biggest surprise so far is how the Ariya comes ALIVE at night! The cabin GLOWS with beautiful ambient lighting. It’s truly stunning! We could not be more pleased with the Ariya and look forward to getting to know all the features of this amazing new EV! I know we are lucky to have accepted delivery somewhat early in this process. For those still waiting, hang in there! The Ariya is well worth the wait!! Wishing everyone speedy deliveries 🤞!!
Congrats! on your New Premiere Ariya.Picked up my Premiere yesterday. Seamless transaction at the dealership, no markups and got the NJ charge up rebate. Showing a range of 320 miles fully charged, we’ll see how that plays out.
Congrats! It’s a great smooth, quiet, comfortable SUV. It stands out among the Teslas….Took delivery of Evolve+, white/grey interior on 2/2/23 at Gainesville, FL. MSRP honored (as previously promised), no dealer add-ons and application of $1240 discount and $500 deposit. Only complaint is that car was not well charged. Lot's to learn, but happy so far.
The headsets were gifts! No need to reimburse. There's another thread explaining how to reset it and download some games and such. Some have mentioned that they resold theirs or gave away to friends/family.So the Premiere (1-16-21 Reservation ID: 23154) Exterior color: Northern Lights Metallic Interior color: Charcoal came into a SE Florida dealership tonight. I asked the rep when I could come in to do the test drive. He seemed clueless as to why I would even want to do this and how would I like to pay for the car. LoL
Does anyone need or want a heads up on the dealer info? I plan on taking a picture of the MSRP sticker either tomorrow or before Sat to post to the group.
The headset came in, still unopened. Do we need to pay for those out of our deposit?
I ended up getting an ID.4 AWD but wanted to at least test drive this Nissan after all of this aggravation. I also canceled my Ioniq 5 reservation.
Did the car come tinted or did you have to get that done yourself. Every one Ive seen didnt come tinted from the factory.Congrats! It’s a great smooth, quiet, comfortable SUV. It stands out among the Teslas….

The Ariya does not come tinted which is a good thing. I like to choose my own level of tint darkness vs factory light tint.Did the car come tinted or did you have to get that done yourself. Every one Ive seen didnt come tinted from the factory.
Thank you for the clarification on the headset. The headsets were gifts! No need to reimburse. There's another thread explaining how to reset it and download some games and such. Some have mentioned that they resold theirs or gave away to friends/family.
