Just completed 120 mile trip on highways and urban roads. Here are my first impressions.

1. Ariya will exceed the 289 miles (EPA rating) in reasonable weather conditions. I averaged 3.5 miles/kwh. The usable battery is 90KW, I think Ariya will average 300+ miles of range.
2. Ariya will show number of miles regenerated after the trip. I was missing this on my Ioniq 5.
3. I used propilot for most the trip and I am very impressed with the performance. Ariya kept the car centered, acceleration and deceleration was smooth. The handoff driving was fun. Ariya disengaged handoff driving in construction zones.
4. The lane departure warning is similar to a mobile phone vibration. I liked this better than the annoying beep sounds.
5. The cabin is super quiet, and the suspension is not sporty/bumpy.
6. zero gravity seats are very comfortable.
7. I enjoyed the feel of leather wrapped steering
8. There are no rattles or noises in the car
9. The instrument cluster displays break lights whenever the rear brake light is on (see attached picture). This is useful whenever the car is using regenerative braking.
10. The brake pedal moves based on the amount of regenerative braking. I initially thought it was weird but later realized it helped me apply the right amount of braking pressure.
11. I felt like it will take time to adjust to intelligent rear-view camera mirror.

I did not test the propilot parking assist and I did not get a chance to play with the infotainment system.

Ariya feels and drives like a normal ICE car. I think Nissan put together a very nice car and it will satisfy lot of people. Ariya deserves an Infiniti badge and I think it is worth the wait.

Only three of us received the car this week. Demo units and few more customer cars might be delivered this year. I believe most of the reservation holders might receive their cars in January/February.

That’s what I thought. Saw your other posts. Was just wondering why the rendition of the car in the dash graphics isn’t the same color as your car. I know it’s silly, but little details like that could be changed on my Tesla. Color and wheels would match your real car.

Thanks for the review, and congratulations on being one of the first people to own the Ariya in the US.

Regarding the ProPilot Assist 2.0, I heard that the system reads lane markings, and may shut off and ask you to put your hands back on the wheel if it loses the “lock”.

You mentioned construction zones, but how sensitive is the system on asking you to put your hands back on the wheel? For example, if you’re driving in an area with faded markings, does the system shut off immediately?

I did not ask me to take over for about 18 miles stretch and then asked me to take over. The system transitions from handoffs to hands on the steering wheel. I felt the transition was smooth and the propilot still did all the work, but I had to just put the hand on the steering.

I did not have great expectations on the propilot when I took the car, but it did a good job. I did not drive any other hands-off steering wheel systems from Ford/GM/Tesla to compare it against.

I just realized this system is available in only Japan and US markets only. That explains why there are no propilot 2.0 YouTube reviews from EU.

How does Propilot 2.0 perform in heavy traffic? Can it handle all aspects of driving in such conditions, or is manual intervention still necessary? And thank you for sharing all these information with us. I am looking forward to seeing more deliveries

18 miles is a long stretch; seems like it's working pretty well. When it asked you to take over, was it obvious what may have caused the system to require hands-on again? (maybe the lane markings were faded, etc.)

It doesn’t tell you why it requires hands-on but for me, it turned green (from blue) as soon as we hit a construction zone so that was very obvious. Tested pro-pilot for about 30 miles on the 5 and 101, worked perfectly.

Congratulations on your Ariya and awesome write-up! My experience is just about the same, we put 160 miles on our Ariya yesterday.

Just want to add that the ride is super comfortable and incredibly quiet - feels like I’m underwater sometimes, every outside noise is so muffled.
