There is a Bose system in my 2017 Leaf that is just adequate. The Sony system in my 2012 F 150 Lariat extended cab is far superior. It has a 30 gig hard drive that allowed me to downloaded more than 2000 tracks from CDs. I can't remember the last time I used the radio.

Did you get the rear view mirror-camera? I'm curious how well that looks. Also, did you find any way to change the max battery charge level?
The rear camera work fine. However it will take some time for me to get used to it. I felt the objects are much closer viewing in the camera than the actual mirror.
Agreed, but the range of view is amazing. Attached photos with and without.

That is unbelievable? I have a hard drive with 3000 hand picked songs from when I was in Afghanistan 2009 . Does Ariya have option to download??? In my Tacoma I have XM $5 a month but it is a joke just like FM all the same songs. , I made 100 CD's random songs better than anything on xm or radio. If I could have my own music I would be set. Any ideas from anyone?? Im 66 so not so up on new technology. I know off topic of Ariya but just wondering , thanks Old Guy
I just use a usb stick or just put the music files right on my phone. Having a hard drive in the vehicle is pretty archaic.

The sound quality is subpar.
People commonly found speakers used small magnets for vehicles trying to squeeze out range/efficiency. So not having the Bose option, I would expect small speaker magnets that would improve with just a speaker swap. Also, high dynamic range music (music mixed in the 90s or earlier) probably sounds better than typical modern day radio/pop music which is highly compressed.

I'm guessing then that bass is inadequate so a subwoofer would probably improve this as well as replacing the original speakers. Interested in ideas of where to place a sub. Heard previously that the Bose sub spot on the Platinum model is possible. A very good sound system in a very quiet Ariya sounds perfect.

Technology has certainly changed how sound is produced and transmitted, that includes the systems installed in our automobiles. Earlier this year I was given a relatively small, inexpensive Bluetooth speaker. I pair it to my Android phone and listen to music on the Amazon Prime channel. The sound quality is superior to the Bose system in my 2017 Leaf. I don't consider myself an audiophile, but have maintained quality home sound systems for almost 60 years. All of that said, I would expect that Nissan would offer some level of sound quality in the Ariya at all price points. The technology exists to do so at a reasonable cost.

I'll wait and see what I think. Sound quality is subjective and has a lot to do with the preferred music. I don't listen to a lot of bass heavy stuff. Some pop, lots of jazz and classical, so if bass is the issue, that's not likely a super big deal for me. As a data point, the factory sound system in my current 2015 Honda Pilot Touring is plenty good enough for me.

If it's not great though, this wouldn't be the first car that I've replaced speakers in... Just about every Toyota I've ever owned got new speakers within the first couple months. It is mildly disappointing at this price point, but not a super big deal.

My first Nissan product was actually a Datsun, a 1966 Datsun 1600. It was a small two-seat sports car that was the forerunner to the Z cars. The sound system consisted of two speakers (a luxury in that era) to which I added a reverb unit. It delayed the sound to one of the speakers by a fraction of a second, creating an echo chamber effect in that very small space. Just AM/FM inputs, but Chicago where I lived at the time had two good jazz stations, a classical station and bunch of rock choices. We didn't know at the time we were listening to what would later become oldies but goodies.

Congratulations on your Ariya and awesome write-up! My experience is just about the same, we put 160 miles on our Ariya yesterday.

Just want to add that the ride is super comfortable and incredibly quiet - feels like I’m underwater sometimes, every outside noise is so muffled.
Hey guys/gals,
Guess what? For those who picked up your Ariya over the weekend, your photos are on Linkedin!

The weirdest thing is that there's a Pearl White Ariya in the showroom purchased by someone. It appears Ariyas have arrived to BOTH Irvine Nissan and Tustin Nissan.

I think I need to dress up when I pick up my Ariya if they're doing photo shoots! LOL

Check it out...
