Ariya EV CAREFREE +

Recently revealed Episode 09 inside reservation portal describing EV Carefree +. Reveals a few things I wasn’t aware of including free towing if you strand yourself with a flat battery, tire road hazard replacement, and free maintenance . As I interpret this info all of the above are No Charge benefits for 36 months. So buyer beware if any dealership attempts to roll a tire road hazard insurance policy, towing, or maintenance package into the purchase price

Here's a press release that Nissan sent out about it:
LOS ANGELES – Nissan is making it simpler to switch to an electric vehicle with the launch of a new customer care initiative, EV Carefree+, announced today at Los Angeles Auto Show’s AutoMobility LA. The customer-focused initiative provides Nissan Ariya and LEAF buyers an all-inclusive package to give EV owners a positive, stress-free experience.

As one of the most comprehensive offerings in the industry for electric vehicle buyers, EV Carefree+ provides additional charging and maintenance benefits to help owners make the switch to electric easily. EV Carefree+ combines four pillars of support:

  • EV Charging Assistance: Nissan is providing buyers or lessees of the 2023 Ariya and LEAF with complimentary charging offers on one of the nation’s largest public fast charging networks, EVgo. Ariya buyers and lessees receive one year of unlimited public charging1 with EVgo, while LEAF buyers and lessees receive a $100 charging credit with EVgo2. In addition, Nissan provides owners with a seamless home charging solution in collaboration with Wallbox3. Nissan also has the largest network of high-speed EV chargers at U.S. dealerships4.
  • Included Maintenance: Scheduled maintenance for Nissan EVs is included for three years or 36,000 miles. All service is performed by Nissan-trained technicians at EV-certified dealerships. A Tire Hazard Protection plan is also included, keeping owners covered in case of tire damage.
  • EV Battery Health Assurance: Every Nissan EV comes with an 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty. When it’s time for service, Nissan’s network of experienced EV technicians provide comprehensive multi-point, EV-specific inspection reports.
  • EV Roadside Assistance: EV owners are covered by 24/7 Roadside Assistance, including out-of-charge towing to the nearest Nissan dealership, charging location or even the owner’s residence. Roadside Assistance coverage is active for three years or 36,000 miles from purchase5.
“We’re focused on making ownership seamless to encourage more drivers to consider an EV from Nissan,” said Aditya Jairaj, director, EV marketing and sales strategy, Nissan U.S. “The addition of EV Carefree+ will make our exciting Ariya and LEAF electric vehicles even more appealing to future owners.”

EV Carefree+ will also be available for future Nissan electric vehicles. As part of the company’s Ambition 2030 plan, Nissan has committed to 40% of its U.S. sales being electric by 2030, with many more to be electrified.

Wow. This is pretty sweet if it's indeed an all-inclusive/no additional charge perk for Ariya buyers.
The change alone from the original $500 EvGO charging credit to unlimited 1-year charging is rather nice if you plan to drive a bit.

That's a nice deal for Nissan to offer their EV owners/lessees. That's going to be hard to turn down.
So is the level 2 charger free or just a discount?
$150.00 discount off list price when entering your Ariya reservation number as your discount code.
I just got my Ariya and the dealers have no idea how to access the EV Carefree benefit. Any help on this from anyone, or who I can get information on how to access?
Just got my Ariya and the dealer was clueless about how to access the EV Carefree benefit and in particular how I access the EVgo free charging. Any help from anybody on how to figure this out?
Carefree: My dealership did it without even saying anything to me about it. I saw it in the paperwork when I was signing - three coupons for free service. It looks like it's a nice gesture but not super valuable because EVs just don't have a lot of maintenance needs.

EVGo: The dealership doesn't do anything for this. It's automatic and you should get an email in a few days. I got mine two days after getting my car, but others have reported somewhat longer timeframes.

Thanks for this Atreis. I also found out that the free EVgo charging for a year will be offered through a welcome email, typically within 30 days of your purchase. And my dealer didn't seem to have any other insight to the benefits and really pushed hard on the 5K extended warranty. Best I can tell, the other benefits are embedded like the roadside assistance and the 8yr/100k mile battery warranty. I didn't get any coupons but will remind the sales guys if and when I need scheduled maintenance.
My dealer tried to sell me this, but it's 10 yr/ 100,000 miles..
Carefree car protection/Mechanical Failure contract, by Fidelity Warranty services, inc.
Lots to fine prints to shift through, tho... I haven't read all...
Any of you think it's worth buying? I know the first 36 months/60,000 miles are covered, but it's a new EV and I just don't know. It's like $140/mo for 36 months..

So you essentially would be paying $5K for 7 years of extended warranty coverage. First glance sounds pretty steep for what might lay ahead?
Beyond normal wear parts such as tires, my 12YO Leaf has only needed two electric coolant pumps to be replaced and that repair occurred in its 11th year which would have fallen outside this warranty period. The coolant pumps were OEM from Nissan and cost about $600 for both. I was able to replace them myself in about 3 hours. Even if the dealer had performed the labor, the total repair cost to replace both pumps would have been $1K.
So my own experience would leave me to believe there might be more sensible places to waste your money such as your local casino.

Thanks. I wish I could be handy like you. My concerns are mostly for all the electronics sensor "craps" (sorry) .. I spent $1k on the windshield replacement on my Forester. The crack was not that bad but wouldn't pass inspection and I have bad eyesight driving at night. The cost laid more on the calibration part than the glass itself.
The Ariya is nth times more of sensors than my Subaru, thus I have to think twice of getting it or not. Like I said, lots of fine prints to go thru, and it states mostly on mechanical failures, so I wasn't sure.
I got so many flat tires lately that I even afraid to drive on Houston streets with constant lane blockage, asphalt stripping and resurfacing... I guess where we live also determine how we maintenance the car, and not getting into accidents... but sometimes things are not in our control..

This is a third party coverage, which may be slightly different than official Nissan Security Plus extended coverage, and probably makes them more when selling it. However, Nissan only goes up to 8 years/120k miles. Regardless, don't pay the first price they give you, there is a lot of room to negotiate on that price.
