I’m dedicating this thread to discuss any neat tricks and tips that we Ariya owners should be made aware of.

First of, I was told by Nick at Tustin Nissan that if you plan to go on a vacation where your Ariya is left unattended for several days and weeks, he said do not leave the SoC below 30%. I forgot what was the reasoning behind this. Usually with my ICE, I would remove the battery cable

He also said if you accidentally leave your hood ajar, it will drain the 12V battery.

Definitely still worth carrying around one of those portable 12v battery jumpers in the trunk
Highly recommend this.
REMINDER: YOU CANNOT USE YOUR ARIYA TO JUMPSTART ANOTHER VEHICLE. The 12V system does not have enough power to provide the amperage needed to jumpstart an ICE vehicle, and you may damage the electrical systems in your vehicle. Which is why you'll want to carry a portable jumpstart charger if you expect to need to jumpstart other vehicles.

I find that when auto brake hold is on, I get abrupt stops where the car rocks back and forth briefly. It goes away if I turn off auto brake stop. If I'm very careful to feather the brake pedal just before fully stopping it minimizes the problem. I'd much rather have full stop one-pedal.
Interesting. I also noticed that my Ariya rocks back and forth every time I come to a stop (which really bothers me) and I do have Auto Brake Hold on, but I didn't realize that option may be causing this symptom. I'll have to try turning Auto Brake Hold off tomorrow to see if it helps.

Keep in mind that this type of EV is HEAVY and with the weight it carries, you will feel the slight "back and forth" movement as it comes to a full stop... that's normal for any heavy vehicle coming to a full stop, no matter how slowly you apply the brakes. That's physics.

I wonder if the E4orce version will rock less? Nissan claims less nose dive.

I have a Jeep that's at least as heavy as the Ariya, and it doesn't rock like my Premiere when stopping. Must be suspension design.

I had a 2015 Jeep Cherokee that was heavy and I also have the Premiere... I'll agree that the Premiere suspension must be designed differently. But it's rocking after it comes to a stop doesn't bother me because it's not that big of a deal for me.
My leaf plus with true one pedal driving never rocks, because I never have to touch the brake pedal. It just stops all on its own. Magic!

Sometimes I detect that rocking motion, too, but other times I'm able to get it super smooth. We also get the rocking thing with the VW ID.4, and it treats us to this kind of squeak sound. It will be headed in for some recall and software update stuff soon, so maybe they can assess that as well.

Anyone out there would have preferred that the front seat head rests were fully adjustable including front to back…..not just up and down?

Yes, that would have been nice. I like to sit fairly upright when driving, but then the head rest seems to angle forwards quite a bit.

From my own driving experience and research on Ariya brake modes:
  • D is for cruising when driving without the need for braking and light on accel pedal, such as on highway with light traffic. This is similar to normal ICE car driving.
  • B is for letting the regen braking moderately to slow down with less need to apply the brake pedal when driving downhill. This is similar to an ICE car using lower gears when going downhill.
  • e-Step is for more aggressive regen braking when driving in heavy traffic, or dense street lights/signs/... with frequent stopping/slowing down/turning. For more smooth driving with e-Step (also 1-pedal driving with other EV's), don't let go the accel pedal at once - Instead, estimate the distance then partially release and hold the accel pedal, until release and stop or speed up again as needed.
  • For a complete stop, always use the brake pedal to prevent the car from creeping. For a long stop, activate the Brake Hold button below the left side of the dashboard to keep the car stopped after holding the brake pedal for a few seconds.
Have you noticed that the car would rock back and forth at a normal complete stop? Taking it into the dealership for them to check it out and maybe its something to do with the brake settings.

That's normal for this car to slightly rock back and forth after a complete stop.

For some of you who are new to the forum, and recent new owners of Ariya reporting "rocking back and forth after a full stop", what are your build dates?

It seems strange to hear about it because all of us who have owned the Ariya since early this year have never witnessed the rock and forth issue.

The Ariya is 4500lbs SUV.....

Not from my experience, plenty of rocking happening without the stereo on. Platinum comes in at a hefty 5057lbs (2293kgs)
Mine rocks, and I took delivery in January. (It also Rocks, and with the stereo on it rocks, but those are different. :) Good grief... Talk about an overloaded word!) I suspect this is a side effect of the more comfortable suspension and very short throw on that suspension... Overall, to me, not a huge deal, but mildly annoying. Stiffer shocks may be in order at some point.
FWIW, the curb weight is very close to my old Pilot, which didn't do this at all, but of course that's a very different vehicle with a lot more room for the suspension components.
My Premier rocks too. Annoying. But I can control it by feathering the brake when I stop. It's also less if you turn off hold, but then the car creeps at stop lights.

I never noticed the rocking until someone here mentioned it. Now I'm annoyed that they mentioned it 😀 . I also use the brake hold so that could be part of what's causing it.

😂😂
I haven't noticed it. Maybe my brain is wired differently

Can confirm the Motorola Wireless Android Auto adapter works well. Connects automatically once I start the car.
