I think the income you are talking about is the additional funding for low-mid income levels.

It also restricts who can get an HOV sticker, if your income is above the range you can only get the rebate or the HOV sticker, not both. Might be why I see a lot of new cars without the sticker, they had too high an income.

Anyhow, I believe I read somewhere once before that CA EV rebate was for $1500. At the time, it was $7500 Federal and $1500 CA State for a total of $9000. If I can get $1500 CA state tax incentive plus my $990 Chase cash bonus for using my credit card, I will be happy as a clam.

We applied for the rebate on-line and received an email approving our filing. They will send $2,000 within 6 weeks. Note if you qualify for the rebate, apply as soon as you get your Ariya (license tag not required) since the fund can be depleted and will need to funding during the next budget cycle.

It's actually $2000 + $2500 more for lower income levels. So a significant amount, but the lower income levels includes $111k for family of 4 which might be middle class.

Use the calculator to find out, it's the household income. I guess it also shows any electric utility credits if available. Some districts give EV rebates.

Got approved right away for the $2K for the Ariya. Language is confusing on the website about how many of these you are eligible for but you can get a second Clean Vehicle rebate if you received one prior to 2019 which we did for a FIAT 500e back then.

Also check your county for rebates. El Dorado County offers $599 pretty much same paperwork.

The qualified Ariya for the rebate capped below $60K MSRP. Sadly, Platinum + will not qualify. I have pulled the plug and will wait for a price drop 😝

My application had a little hiccup. I registerd my Ariya under the business name. In order to qualify for the additional $2500, I need to add my personal name on the title as well. So, I went back to Tustin Nissan and had them redo the registration to include both my business name and my person name on the title. That was it!
