The Nissan website now also links to your "local" dealerships so you can check them for availability and pricing, and one was showing a promotion for 15% off!

I will need to buy aftermarket tow hitch as my Yakima bike rack uses 2” receiver. I don’t like using an adapter from 2” to 1.25”. It makes the bike rack unstable.

If you find a good aftermarket one could you please post it up here on the forum? I'd be interested in getting one too since my Kuat rack also needs a 2" receiver.

I will check to see if the Ariya tow hitch is compatible to 2023 Rogue. If so, then that tells me Rogue and Ariya tow hitch is interchangeable.
I checked with two dealerships. Both said the hitch was "dealer restricted". Not available as yet to be ordered. Please correct me if anyone can get their hands on one.
From this page:

The hitch has this text:
  • Applicable with AWD only
Since there are no AWD Ariyas yet, there aren't any vehicles that Nissan supports for installation of the hitch yet. No idea why they would limit it, but that's what the site indicates. We may have to wait for an aftermarket option.

There are 2.0" adapters for the 1.25? tow hitch. However, my local Nissan here in NC will not install the 1.25" hitch on my Evolve + FWD...they say their stock Ariya AWD hitch will not fit it ??? and is intended for the AWD model only. They also said (don't know if this is true) that Nissan will be coming out with a hitch for the FWD model ??? I also tried 2 local trailer hitch places and there are no aftermarket ones available...so I am SOL at the moment. The local trailer hitch place said it usually takes 3-6 months at least until the aftermarket hitches become available for new vehicles "if they become available at all"...depends on car sales / demand of that particular model. What I really want is a 2.0" hitch for my Yakima and/or Kuat bike racks...I will not be towing anything. My options at the moment 1.) wait until the aftermarket ones become available or for Nissan to produce one 2.) wait for an Evolve + AWD to become available and trade in my new Evolve + FWD 3.) see if someone would custom build a hitch...UHaul claims they do this, but it will probably be very expensive? 4.) Sell my Nissan Evolve + and buy a Mach E. Anyone have any other thoughts?

ETrailer is a great supplier for just about anything related to towing. Note that your bikes will bounce around a lot more when using a hitch adapter like this though. It puts your rack that much further away from the wheels, increasing the lever arm. You're better off getting a rack that will work with either 1.25 or 2 inch hitches.

Gadler, I would quietly check the return/restocking policy of various suppliers. If it was reasonable, lets say 25% restock, and shipping was tolerable, I'd order the factory part. Its a wild-assed guess, but I believe there is a snowballs chance in heck it doesn't fit. If for some reason it won't you've a very close basic platform for any decent body shop to work with. You'd also earn the props of many, for I'm not too sure you're going to see enough market demand to justify R&D, production, and inventory stocking by the aftermarket anytime soon.

BTW, I too use a 1 1/4" bike rack on an adapter. It can rattle, but that's easily addressed. It also bought me some space away from the trunk/tailgate, and I was pretty happy w/that. Gotta watch weight though, because arm is real and it's applying a serious down force on the actual tongue weight/force.

Thanks for your thoughts/input. As it turns out I think I really need a 2.0” hitch because we sometimes travel with 3 or even 4 road bikes…our current bike rack is 2.0”. If we can collectively contact U-Haul and Draw-Lite and Curtis and express a need for an aftermarket hitch for the Ariya, that will help. They probably have one but have not done the internal R&D to go to market with it.
Gadler, a "medium/heavy" Class 1, the one with the longer draw bar/pin relationship, is good to 3500lbs (memory, check that), and if push comes to shove should be OK. I'd take that over waiting for a 2" that may never come. I see 2" as the standard, but lordy is class 1 common on todays crossovers and sedans. You just might not get a choice.

Pretty sure 3500 lbs is Class 2 and Class 1 is limited to 2000 lbs. Both have 1.25" receiver, but the draw bar/pin differs. Some bike racks will only work on a class 2 because of the pin position, which is really irritating.

If you use an extension (e.g. a 1.25" to 2" adapter) derate the tongue weight by half - so, for a typical Class 1, instead of 200 lbs TW, it would only be 100 lbs.

Nope, but you're not alone in thinking that. Having owned both 1.25"s I've had the (Dis)honor of having the wrong "heavy" 1.25 drawbar when while owning the "light" (my words). It's all about pin positioning, and I believe it occurs in the 2" as well.

Here:
Joint Hand Arm Product Human body

What U-Haul calls a "regular duty" has a pin placement closer to the "ball" than on the heavy, and the "back" of the receiver is either box or pinned so you can't more deeply set the heavy bar deeper into the light/regular receiver.

Are they common today? Dunno. I try to only have 2" anymore. I do still have some "heavy" 1.25 draw bars around I've had to notch so I can use them in anything. PITA.

Has anyone with a FWD ordered the hitch that's now available for the AWD? I'm curious to see if it fits the bolt hole pattern on the FWD frame. I need a hitch for my bike rack. I have no intention to tow anything (I have a truck for those jobs) so don't need the ball or wiring harness.
I got a quote from the parts department at my dealership for a hitch so that I can use a bike rack. It came out to almost $1400 (CAD). Instead, I’m going to look into a Sea Sucker bike rack that doesn’t need a hitch.

Ouch that seems a bit spendy. The part is $459 in the US.
