On Saturday, I attended a Ride and Drive event in Portland, Oregon. I expected to gain insight into the Ariya I put a deposit down on months ago, but mostly I came away with a sense of confusion regarding trim levels and color options.

The brochure I picked up at the event lists nine trim levels. This is consistent with the Features and Specifications document available at the 2023 Nissan Ariya Press Kit page:
  • Venture+ FWD
  • Engage FWD
  • Evolve+ FWD
  • Empower+ FWD
  • Premier FWD
  • Engage AWD
  • Engage+ AWD
  • Evolve+ AWD
  • Platinum+ AWD
The Nissan USA Ariya web site, on the other hand, lists only four trim levels:
  • Venture+ FWD
  • Evolve+ FWD
  • Premiere FWD
  • Platinum+ AWD
I'm interested in AWD, so when I put my deposit down, it was on a the Platinum+ trim level. Now I wonder why the Engage AWD, Engage+ AWD, or Evolve+ AWD trims didn't (and still don't) appear at the web site.

While at the Ride and Drive event, I saw a display banner listing color options for various trim levels, and I noticed that Platinum+ was shown as being available in copper. This is my preferred color, but it was not (and is not) listed at the web site as a choice.

In an attempt to clarify whether copper is available for the Platinum+ trim, I engaged an agent at the Ariya web site in a live chat. We got disconnected in the middle of the chat, so I ended up conversing with two different agents. One told me that Platinum+ is available in copper. The other told me it's not.

I'm left with the feeling that I don't know what trim levels offer AWD, I don't know what colors are available for the various trim levels, and I don't know whether I can trust the information at the Ariya web site or from the Ariya live chat agents.

Can anybody clarify things and, ideally, point me to online resources where I can find accurate information about the Ariya?

Thanks!

The pre-orders were limited to just the 4 trims, and also limited color selection. (Note that Premier is only available by pre-order.) No doubt once normal orders open the other options will become available, and Premier will go away.

I recommend you first pick your trim level (ie:Evolve+, Engage etc.) then wait until you can actually place an order for one. I was going with the Venture+ but changed to the Evolve+ as it is only $3,000 more but comes with many upgrades we want. We do not need AWD.

I asked the Nissan representative at the ride events about the newer trims that are not available. The current trims that are listed on the website are for reservation holders. Once Nissan fulfils the reservations, the dealers can order the reminder trims to stock them in their lots.

Did you happen to get any information about which colors will be available for the various trim levels?

Evolve+ will eventually come out in AWD, so I cancelled my reservation and will wait for that to happen. I am very frustrated with Nissan for their confusing information regarding trim lines, color choices, and availability.

I attended the ride and drive event in Tacoma a couple weeks ago and was able to engage with a representative regarding your question. Apatently Nissan chose to simplify their initial launch models with what you currently find on line So if you desire an AWD during the initial launch series reservation series, the Platinum + is your only option right now. However the agent did confirm that after the initial launch reservation group has run it’s course , lower trim AWD versions, smaller battery versions etc. will eventually become available as indicated on the printed brochure.

We're spoke with our dealership re the different options that were shown at the show versus available for preorder. She said that they should be getting the specs of their stock order which will include non-pre-orderable configurations. So they can swap our pre-orders with their incoming stock.
