Door Locks

All of the other Nissans I have owned had the push button locking mechanism on the door handle, the remote access to open or close the doors lock, without using the key. It was very easy. I am finding that when I get out of my car now and use my thumb to lock the doors, it doesn’t engage as fast. I often have to touch the lock 2-3 times to get it to engage. Anyone else?

There's a feature you can turn on to lock/unlock automatically as you walk away from or approach the car. I've turned that on and it works great. I find the door touch things work pretty much the same as the Prius, which is okay but I like the automatic lock/unlock better.

Oooooh. Where? I thought I plowed through all the menus but clearly not.

Also, doesn’t unlock all the doors or can you have it where it only unlocks the driver side?

It's in the driver display Settings (scroll left/right using the buttons on the left of the steering wheel until you get to settings)
Go into Vehicle Settings
Go into Locking
Towards the bottom are "Walk Away Lock" and "Approach Unlock".

It always unlocks all of the doors when you turn this on. It's also described in the Intelligent Key video, but the mention is so brief that it's not all that useful.

If you've not explored the videos, most of them ARE useful. They're here:

I kind of noticed this, it seemed like when my finger was really dry that would happen.
I have never used the button, I setup the lock and unlock on approach. It works flawlessly

I had to turned off my auto locks and approach unlock features. Whenever I'm working in the front yard, my fob will constantly triggers it because my car is parked on the driveway

I griped about this when I first got my Ariya - they should have a home location where the car knows not to lock. Then you can work freely in your garage, your yard, etc and not worry about lock/unlock and draining the batteries. When your beyond the home, the auto lock and unlock is awesome.

This is likely one of those things that won't please everybody. I park my Ariya in our garage and do not lock, and also do not carry the car key with me when I work in the yard or garage, but others might not park in their garage. Our VW ID.4 has a similar approach/unlock feature. With the newfangled fancy key fobs, I've always liked to keep them well inside the house away from the car when parked.

I had the same problem. I was missing the button to push which was on the Leafs and worked all the time. What I discovered is that making sure none of my fingers are on the inside of the handle it locks every time I push where the button used to be. It seems that any fingers on the inside of the handle confuses it on whether you may be wanting to unlock the door.

The three lines on the outside of the door handles is the touch point for locking, though it might work beyond that area. You can lock and unlock from all four of the handles.

Yes the inside of the handle is apparently a way to unlock -- I saw that in one of the Ariya videos...
