At this point, No version is eligible under the 2023 tax code. Saw something in the news about the possibility of Japanese batteries qualifying, but don’t know the details.
If you're a reservationist and signed the binding agreement, you should qualify under the 2022 rules (and tax year) even if you take delivery in 2023.Can anyone advise/confirm that the 2023 NISSAN ARIYA.. all trims.. will be eligible for 2023 tax credit?
I looked on IRS website and only the LEAF is listed.
Appreciate replies/comments/feedback.
You and me both. I bought it as a walk-in and refusal of some reservationistHi arteis... thanks for your reply... i did not reserve.. only purchased in early March..
Go to this page: Federal Tax Credits for Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Cars and check the Purchase Scenario box to see the list of eligible vehicles. If you have a Nissan contract, all the Ariya FWD's are eligible. Thanks for your reply!
Standby for clarification on this. IRS is now saying new rules changes will not be effective until 17 April 2023. So a few other vehicles could be covered under old 2022 tax rules. Manchin is, of course, in a lather saying IRS is circumventing the intent of Congress. IRS could still back down, of course. If you're a reservationist and signed the binding agreement, you should qualify under the 2022 rules (and tax year) even if you take delivery in 2023.
If you're not a reservationist or didn't sign the agreement, it doesn't qualify because it's not made in the North America.
@arteis is 100% correct.Standby for clarification on this. IRS is now saying new rules changes will not be effective until 17 April 2023. Yes, he is technically correct except the IRS is presently determining how and in this particular case WHEN to implement it. This is a new development. After all, 16 April is still 2023 but not 1 Jan IAW Manchins' interpretation. The date of implementation in 2023 is what's under discussion.@arteis is 100% correct.
IRS rules for 4/18 are for battery mineral + component rules for US-built EVs. Ariya is built in Japan and when IRA took into effect in 2023...prevented it from being eligible for any consumer tax credit
The short: If you bought an Ariya without a binding agreement - no tax credit for you.
I'm waiting for Nissan to offer $7500 cap reduction on leases like Hyundai, Genesis, Jeep, Volvo, Polestar, Mercedes, BMW, VW have done.
OBTW, I have a binding agreement so I don't have "dog in the fight", per se. I am covered.Yes, he is technically correct except the IRS is presently determining how and in this particular case WHEN to implement it. This is a new development. Thanks EzeMe2... that's crappy... guess I'll have to pretend I had a real bad day at the races!@arteis is 100% correct.

That is my understanding. I am hoping that my AWD will arrive shortly, and our 2022 Federal tax return will take the credit based upon the two binding agreements we signed last year just before the magic date of "before" 8/16/22, with both Nissan AND my dealer. The applicable language from the Department of Energy's web site, that permits the $7,500 credit on your 2022 tax return, even if your vehicle was delivered in 2023, is as follows: "Entered into a written binding contract to purchase vehicle before August 16, 2022, but did not take possession of the vehicle until on or after August 16, 2022." The new rules don't apply to cars made outside of North America. The Ariya is made in Japan. Sorry, no tax credit for 2023.Thanks Frank Ariya.. I went to dealer on 8 March 2023 to test drive the Ariya Venture+ and decided to buy it after the test drive. I didn't do any contract till I purchased it on 8 March 2023.. I wondering about 2023 tax year ... not 2022..
