Let’s have a general discussion on this subject matter.

For those who are waiting for their Ariyas, I recommend that you sign up with EVGO now so that when your vehicle is ready, you’ll have your EVGO card ready for use. You can always enter your vin # at a later time. While you are at it, download their app as well as Plugshare app.

Note, it took me 14 days for me to get my EVGO card to arrive in the mail.

Is the only way to get the app screen with the chart is to screen capture it? I don't see any way to see it after the charge is done.
The EVGO app will only give you the summary and a chart of the charging curve.

To get an accurate "photo finished", you have to snap a photo while standing next to the LED screen
This may be of interest to some of you who don't have access to EVGO.

I dug up this old press release because of today's news that Ikea wants to compete against Walmart, and is looking to expand their footprints in the US

My local IKEA (17 miles away) already has a few charging stalls. Most cars we saw there are SUVs, UHAUL, and big-butt trucks... I don't see they open any new stores in Houston area.
I arrived at my favorite EVGO station. 2 of the 5 chargers are out of commission. One Leaf and one Kia Niro are using the other 2 chargers. Fortunately, I still have 70 miles of range remaining.

My first time occurrence at this location.

FASTEST TIME EVER! 21% to 96% in 42.28 mins!

Guess who rolled into the EVGO station next to me?

The owner of the White Ariya also owns MachE GT that I mentioned 2 weeks ago. He's here today again charging his wife's Ariya.

The owner of the Black Lyriq also owns a Model S. He claimed the Lyriq drives way better than his Model S. He brought up Tesla during our convo.

First time I went to EVGO the charger was down. Called the number on the charger. Response was very good. Remember if you use any type 2 charger its like charging in your garage. No benefit.
:)got it, thanks.

This 80 % rule is a boatload. The reason they say 80% is because the price of kilowatt hour during the day as opposed to night. I charge my battery to 100% all the time. No problem.
Also, I did not charge past 80%. ==> can you please explain how can you control that?
I CHARGE MY Ariya to 100% all the time. No problem. The 20 to 80% rule was started by Tesla. I was the difference in cost of charging between night and day hours. Search Google for your answer.
I checked the original Quote Wizard article which has rankings of all 50 states -- Florida is #22
Well, that’s surprising. Usually we are first in the worst of everything.
Had to move to another charger, after the unit kept stopping. Agent on phone reset the machine but that didn't help. Moved to another open spot, no problem. Cable management on the Signet machines isn't good. Those Chargepoint ones with the overhead arm look much better.

So I guess next time I should watch for a minute before walking away, because it looked fine starting up then shut down.
team is what caught my attention. Furthermore, I believe EVGO competitive advantage is their AutoCharge+ feature. No one else has AutoCharge+ type feature, not even Tesla SC. AutoCharge+ is seamless and very easy to
What is AutoCharge+? The ability to just plug in and charge, without needing to use an ID card, an app, scan a code, etc?

That sounds precisely like how the SC's work (just plug and charge).

Essentially yes, it's similar to how SC's work with Tesla cars. Tesla SC's don't work that way with non-Tesla cars (the few SC's that support CCS).
There's a new standard that could work across brands if it's implemented, but it's still new and not widely supported yet.

Precisely. There was a M3 yesterday. He arrived at EVGO, plugged in, and walked away with his wife to Starbucks in a matter of seconds

No fuss. No hassle. Done and done.

Why are they not using SC's that are supposed to be reliable and convenient? Or SC's cost more?

Maybe was too crowded at the SC station?

Tesla raised SC pricing last year, so now SC's cost more in many markets than EA or EVGo. I don't know about your market specifically though. It could also be convenience or the SCs being busy.

I don’t know why they would use EVGO. Whatever the reason is (cheaper or convenient), EVGo growth will be linear regardless who wins the EV race.

In another year, after lockup expiration between Mercedes, Fisker, Hyundai, Ford, and VW Groups for free EA charging, I can see these EV owners spill over to EVGO.

My local EVGO Fast Charge station was down today, and I tried the only available AC slow charging station just to anticipate what to expect when installing a home charger later this summer, and observed a few things:
  1. EVGO Autocharge didn't work. Needed to start charging from the EVGO App.
  2. EVGO App didn't display battery level or charging rate while AC charging. Station display showed max 30A.
  3. Needed Ariya display to show battery level and slow charging rate of 6.5kW (~220V * 30A).
  4. Gained 5% battery level after more than 30mins, so 20% to 80% would take 6+ hours.
Since US Ariya can AC charge at max ~7kW (220V * 32A), I'm going to install a hard-wired 48A AC charger in my garage in case the Ariya AC charging board can be upgraded later to accept higher AC current - I've heard Euro Ariya charging boad can be upgraded.
