I’m not sure why Kyle is so against the Ariya, he made up his mind long before he even seen the car too.

Normally, he does a good and fair review. I noticed he didn't have a single positive thing to say. His drag coefficients are right out of the Tesla forums.

From what I see, Nissan didn't want to compromise the styling much just for the aerodynamics. The styling is very much like the concept. I think in the long run the car will look good even years later, since the lines are nice. Especially the rear hatch where there is a plateau across the back and the rear brake light.

I didn't watch the video, but I guess they don't consider the vehicle features, which is what you have to live with every day, Ariya has a lot of features. My sunglasses fit easily in the sunglass holder, which I was worried it was going to be too small.

The other item is longevity/realiability, which you can't see until the future years happen.

I also remember him complain about so many configurations, does he complain about Mach E with 9 configurations? I think the confusing part is the names, 3 versions where the name starts with the letter E. That's the confusion?

He has lots of negative things to say about the vehicle and many of them are earned (MSRP is way too high, bc of that badging is wrong should be Infiniti, cheap interior materials, etc.) but some of his complaints are very subjective. On the InsideEVs podcast today he said it was probably the best driving SUV he's driven and that while the charging is very low, the curve is great. 0-100 in an hour. I want to see if he had a chance to run it in the hogback.

I know that his comments for some help to accentuate the negatives & that was the confirmation they needed to cancel their reservation but I listened to many of his positives bc I think they speak to the more realistic, everyday living you'll do with the vehicle (driving dynamics, charging curve, comfort, NVH). I really like the interior & am impressed by the materials in my Premiere so I'm pretty happy and his positives only confirm that for me.

Kyle is not a fan of the Mach-E at all except the GT PE trim... and that's my least favorite trim to live with and traded that away only after 3 months.

He's very peculiar. I'd say the same about Alex on Autos who doesn't like 1PD at all.

I prefer Bjorn for the nerdy details and Motormouth for the "layman" review.

Yeah it definitely helps the Ariya has one of the shorter wheelbases and felt pretty nimble in my test drive. The Ioniq 5 is a slug. The EV6 is closest to the Ariya since it feels like a hothatch.

The flipside is the shorter wheelbase would explain the rougher ride

I think he is very biased and quite a lot of what he’s saying is subjective. I’m 5 6 and the ev6 was tight even for me. He didn’t give as much crap about the comfort. While msrp is a fair point he could have baselined against the venture plus. No one asked him to drive the top trim. The other trims are comparable. I’m also very curious why he never bothers to talk abt how expensive it is to fix a MY if something happens.

He drives his inefficient and outrageously priced Riven around and calls the Ariya at half
the cost and twice the efficiency a problem....

I think it’s fair to say that Kyle is far from a objective reviewer. Bjorn is better. Whether he disagrees or not, he’s a Tesla and VW fanboy.

He pretty much only drives and reviews the top trims. The lower Ioniq 5 trims are kinda crappy. Same with the lower ID.4 trims.

He reviewed the top trim iX which was $130K at least. $40K more than the base trim.

Not really. It was only one video. Maybe when he posts the 16th or 17th one? :p

I really like Kyle. He's my goto resource on all EVs. I have learned a TON from watching his videos and listening to his podcasts. I really respect his opinions but I don't always agree with them. And with this vehicle, I really don't agree. So far, I really love my Premier Ariya and I imagine that I'm going to enjoy the Platinum even more.

What will you do with the premiere? Are you gonna keep both?

Trade-In/Sell it. Unfortunately, the market isn't as hot as I thought it would be but I'm still optimistic. 😂 I'm not keeping them both though. LMK if you're interested! lol

I like his videos too, I watch them all. Although I’m really disappointed with his objectivity with this one. He says it the best driving and looking EV, but it too expensive. Yet he has much, much more expensive EVs and can’t seem to understand his own Nissan bias.

I love Bjorn reviews and he supports his arguments methodically and compares with every other vehicle he drives.

I remember watching this video a year ago, where I felt Kyle was upset that he did not get an invite to Spain to test drive Ariya. I knew Kyle would have a field day once he gets his hands on Ariya.

It’s making more sense now, he got slighted.

Agreed. I have followed many of his reviews as well. Most all of the negative vibes Kyle has expressed for the Platinum + in the last few days appear to be based on his own personal bias and perception of value. However he does admit that driving dynamics, comfort and overall quality is above average. Bottom line - he’s made it pretty clear that it all comes down to price for him with the Ariya and he can’t seem to shake his tendency to include the tax credit in his EV comparison equation. So that concept in itself disqualifies his opinion on the Ariya for me. Lastly, you had mentioned earlier that his own personal daily driver is a Rivian R1T which is so inefficient it might as well be a brick in the wind. He often also references one of his favorite EV’s which is another inefficient 2019 e-tron with a 95KW (gross) battery and an EPA range of 204 miles. His own e-torn was tested in the same style 70 mph range test….. it only made it 188 miles. So it’s interesting to me that the Platinum + AWD with 20” wheels and a slightly smaller battery is so inefficient to Kyle that it managed to drive 52 miles further than his beloved e-tRon.
