Key Fob

I don’t know if I am posting in the right section or not if not, I apologize. A few times, when I first got the car, a prompt on screen asked if I wanted to make a specific the “primary key.”

I skipped over it and now every time I get into the car it says “welcome, guest.”

does it matter if I make one key the primary key? If so, where is this setting in car? I hope I don’t have to do a reset. Tx.

Its mainly a convenience feature. If you associate a particular key with a profile, the car will customize a bit to that profile: welcome message (Hello <your name>), show customized picture (if desired), use your preferred navigation settings (voice prompt, home location, routing preferences, etc), use your preferred music selection (radio, USB, etc), load your preferred HUD/binnacle layout, things like that.

So nothing critical, but all stuff that I took for granted on my Tesla. ;)

It should load your seat memory too, but my Ariya has stopped doing that. May be a bug. They copied that from Tesla, too.

Forgot to answer your question about how to set it: in the Nissan Connect screen, tap: Home icon -> Gear icon -> Edit User -> User Profiles.

Sounds like you miss your Tesla, and that’s OK. Personal preference I’m sure. Plus going from what you’re used to a different system is always challenging. But I’m sure you could always go back if you want right?

Thank you for providing me the answer. Do you mean the Nissan connect screen on my phone or in the car?

The car. The infotainment system is called "NissanConnect".

They also had an app for communicating with the car with a similar name (Nissan Connect Services), but that is being discontinued. You should use the MyNissan app instead.

I still own the Tesla and I also drive the Ariya, so when one car does something better than the other its noticeable. I like both cars though. My original comment was about Tesla setting a new standard, and Nissan copied it - a good thing! There is... a lot of pooh pooh on the Tesla so I like to offset it. :p

In my TMY the idea is to support multiple users. You define as many users, seating positions, and etc as you want. EG: My wife has a user profile and so do I. When she gets in it recognizes her preferences and sets them as she saved them. If I get in.. " "

But if we both get in? The car wants to know who is "primary" and sets the drivers seat to that presence. In our case I'm usually the driver if we're together, so while it's her car I'm the primary.

For our Ariya whoever first approaches the car with the fob will be the profile that registers. Its easy enough to switch profiles if the car decides incorrectly. The only "primary" option I saw was for the phone connectivity. The primary phone will be the one the car uses for calls and messages. This seems to be independent of driver profile for whatever reason.

Seat memory by key phob isn't a copy of Tesla. Many cars have been doing that for a long time. My old 2011 Murano had that feature, same as my current one.

Ah, I didn't know that. My prior vehicles had seat memories, but only recalled via button press.

looks like there are a few owners who have both Tesla and now the Ariya. Both cars have their good and bad points. Ariya also copied Tesla in not having floor mats on a car with MSRP over $50K LOL

Both my Tesla and Ariya came with the carpeted mats. I don't think I paid an additional charge for the Tesla, but the Ariya sticker had it as a $230 line item. I wish they were the weather proof mats instead. Oh well.

M3 SR+ did not come with mats. Ariya Evolve+ charged $250 for carpeted mats but included a first aid kit that you can buy at Target for $5. The other option was the illuminiated kickplates for $485. Nissan's way of clawing back some of the $1240 reservation discount. The dealer I ended up buying from said he they didn't discount but was willing to take MSRP minus the kickplates and throw in the rubber car mats. Pretty much I paid $250 for the rubber proof mats and the first aid kit. The carpet mats are cheap quality in they are very light weight and only for the front row. Looking for wheel locks but most aftermarkets locks do not fit stock rims. Ariya is so new and so few on the road that very little accessories on Amazon or the Nissan dealers.

Yeah, I've noticed this too. Tesla has a boatload of third party accessories available on Amazon. Great for price competition and some pretty creative solutions too. Hope that happens for the Ariya soon. The front storage bin is great, but not at dealership prices!

I'm going to ask my son to look at that shoebox storage and whether he can 'print' one on their 3 D printers. I'm hoping the knock off people will see money in copy of the Ariya and make '3rd party' accessories. With Telsa, there knock off of knock off so quaility can be very bad. Buyer beware and understand many of those reviews are phony. Never shy about returning to Amazon if I'm not happy with the purchase.

My wife and I drove our Evolve + home from the dealership this afternoon. ( My wife loves it BTW) We spotted this NL Evolve with light gray interior in late February when it first showed up on a dealers website when it was still in transit. This particular dealership is located about 100 miles from our home. MSRP (including destination) was originally $52,615.00 which included the typical add on options for Premium paint, carpeted floor mats / first aid kit, and illuminated kick plates. Long story short, when the smoke cleared I was able to convince the GM to not only apply my $1240.00 reservation credit but discount an additional $1000.00 for an out the door cash price of $50,375.00 + tax and license. The deal I made today also didn‘t take into consideration my $500 reservation credit refund which I plan to request from Nissan NA tomorrow. So yeah, today was a really good day!😎.

Great deal! You've been patient so glad to see it has paid off for you. I love the NL color and but they didn't have it in the Evolve when I was at the dealer. Been driving like an old man in Eco/e-step in B regen. I'm averaging about 320 miles on a charge. The wife will be taking the car next week. Going 75 would be slow for her so we'll see how speed affects the range. :) Enjoy the new car smell!!!

Thanks. Wow 320 miles per charge, that’s crazy. Most of our 100 mile return trek from the dealer today was at least 75mph as that’s what the traffic dictated. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived home that we were still able to attain 2.8 miles/KW. So I would love to hear what kind of efficiency your wife reports to compare once she returns from her high speed trip.

Congratulations on taking delivery of your Ariya! That's great you were able to get another $1000 taken off -- that pretty much can cover for the paint upcharge, floor mats, and kick plates (don't forget first aid kit!), so truly a very good day!

For the first time in almost 40 years, I hop in the car and drive around enjoying the sun and wind blowing into sunroof with no destination in mind. No more driving the kids somewhere as their grown. No more driving to work as I retired during COVID. Just enjoying how this car does so much more than any previous cars I've own. The one before this is a Tesla which is a car that throws you back in the seat but lacks many of the Ariya features. At my age I enjoy the comfort of the seats as I just drive and listen to the radio or stream from my phone. Not driving fast but when an ID4 cuts me off, i change lane and return the favor. They didn't realize I'm in an EV with fast acceleration. The speed, like the Tesla, will get you out of trouble but putting distance from bad drivers. In 13 days of driving, good days are a5 3.5 miles/KW and testing acceleration is about 2.5 miles /kw. Drove over a week before my first charging. A 2021 Tesla M3 SR+ SOC at 85% showing 218 miles will be 170 actual miles. I expect the Ariya to go 3-5 day between charging versus Tesla every other or every third day.

Thanks. I usually do all my own detailing, but since this car has the light interior we’ve decided it best to reinvest our $1K savings into professionally protecting the vegan pleather as well as applying ceramic paint protection while it’s still fresh.

We may do the same as the center of the front seats are the suede material and not the pleather on the edge. It will get dirty fast. The lower door panels have scuff marks after just a week. The Nissan accessories for these areas are over priced and installation at $200/hour is just crazy. At those prices, the custom shop are looking better.
