Lease

I don't know if we can get the $7500 tax credit. The forum has opinions for and against and it's at least a gamble but not certain. What is certain is that the dealer can get the tax credit if he leases the car. Can we expect a break on a lease from a dealer who is getting the tax credit?
Many forum posts are very certain that they don't want to lease. Is there a reason for the anti-lease feelings? I've researched leasing and am considering bringing it up if I get an Ariya. Has anyone tried that? Dose anyone with lease experience have any pros or cons? My dealer has no insight into when we might get one.

It's kind of a matter of preference for me. We only leased one car, we bought others outright. Some leases might limit the number of miles you can put on the car per year (charge extra for excess miles), so it might be good to kind of know beforehand about how much you usually drive. At the end of the lease for the one car we leased, the dealer made a great buyout offer and we just went ahead and bought it (it was our second Leaf). With new cars heading for the market sometimes people like to lease so that they can walk away at the end of the lease and try something new. My personal feeling is I just like the vehicle to be "mine" and not leased.

I have leased a Leaf before, and it was Nissan Finance not the dealer that got the credit. I believe that means that there would have to be a lease offer set up by Nissan Finance, and there is nothing your dealer can do independently to pass on the credit to you on a lease. I recently purchased an Ariya, and also discussed leasing with the dealer. Not only do they not pass the tax credit through, the money factor (the interest rate) is really high for the Ariya. Plus, Nissan has recently removed the option at the end of the lease to buy your car for a fixed price. I'm afraid the Ariya is one of the very worst cars to lease right now.
I was planning on leasing my Ariya myself before I got it despite only having bought cars before and never leasing. I had several reasons including the rapid pace of new EV technology and the commercial loophole to get the tax credit but I ultimately purchased my Ariya because a) the lease rates were pretty bad so there really weren't any savings to be had with a lease versus a purchase, b) Nissan removed the option to purchase at the end of the lease on their EVs which would have been nice in case I liked the Ariya enough to keep it longer, but lastly c) Nissan - unlike other automakers - has decided not to pass on any tax credit money to lessors as confirmed by this article:

.

Given all of that I think it's a pretty bad idea to lease the Ariya unless maybe in a situation where you're writing it off on your taxes.

Speaking of lease, Tustin Nissan has a promotion on Engage + leases. $499/month. I believe it’s $3000 down. I don’t know about the length of the lease, but the incentive is that the first $499 payment is on Tustin Nissan.

I believe one can qualify for the CA Clean Air rebate worth $2000 with a lease ownership? If so, it’s a great deal! Gas alone cost $300/month to drive a small ICE SUV.
