Level 2 charging stops randomly even when not fully charged

A couple of times our Ariya has stopped charging even when the battery isn't fully charged. Each time was at a different charger, and I don't think it's the charger as we were able to test both chargers with another EV. We don't have a charging timer set.

Has anyone else ran into this issue?

Mine's been very consistent and reliable charging on L2... Seems like a visit to the dealership might be in order.

99% of the time it charges normally. Right now I'm collecting more data to try and isolate the problem, and to present more info to the dealer if the issue becomes more than just a rare occurrence.
This happened to me at my home charger last week, which is a very simple and reliable Clipper Creek model. I plugged in with around 30% SoC and I got a notification on my phone from the Nissan app about five minutes later that it stopped charging. I unplugged and plugged in the car a couple times, and each time it stopped charging immediately. It was late and we had just returned from a long trip, so I just left it plugged in and went to bed. In the morning, I had numerous notifications on my phone that it had started and later stopped charging several times during the night, which I could confirm with my home energy use monitor. I confirmed that I do not have a charging timer or schedule set, so I will wait and see if it happens again.

Good point - forgot to mention that I also noticed a series of app notifications when it failed to charge.

Also added this thread to the list in my areas of improvement post.
I'm 99.9% sure this advice will be useless.. BUT... check the setting for "Battery Cooling Assist" in the main drivers menu settings and turn it on if it is off. That setting is apparently supposed to reduce outside noise when DC fast charging if set to off. My theory is that there could be a bug that (when off) prevents the AC charger from being actively cooled and is causing it to cut out due to overheating.

In my case "Battery Cooling Assist" was turned on, because I had just driven 300 miles and had fast charged twice. I had verified that it was on for those charging sessions. However, maybe some component was overheated from the day anyway. It seemed to have trouble right after I got home, and later that night it eventually settled down and charged fine.

Ok, thanks. It's interesting that it seemed to occur after driving some distance but this is sounding like something the dealer will need to pull logs and diagnose. With 2 users on the forum seeing it already, i would put money on a software bug.

That's an interesting theory. I can't recall if the cooling assist was turned on or off at the time but I do remember it was mild out (probably in the 50s Fahrenheit) and just after slow city driving, so battery temperature probably wasn't an issue.
Just charged the Ariya on level 2 home charger for the second time since taking delivery last week. Because of the exclusive in town driving using the B mode and E step, the full charge indicated 347 miles. I'm sure this will not be the norm, but so far so good! Also, I charge once the battery is at about 50%, taking about 7 hours to top off.

Are you pressing the charge now button? I just had my L2 stop after 15 minutes, the same happened at a DC charger previously after 15 minutes. So I probably forgot to hit that button. Even if you didn't set a charge schedule you should try using the button to see if that fixes it.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a try if it happens again.

I just charged yesterday at the same charger (where the issue happened) and it charged normally.

I believe it stops when it reaches a trickle charge somewhere around 80%. Bc when it does that, it takes longer for the battery to charge and it wears the battery over time
