I live in Massachusetts and will be test driving an Ariya soon.

That being said, I am curious, for those who did -NOT- reserve theirs months ago, if you later - like recently, decided to buy, were there any differences in process and/or price between build and buy via the Nissan USA web site versus visiting a dealer directly?

Thank you.

Those of us who made reservations worked directly with Nissan on line. An Ariya portal was established once you made the $500 reservation fee and you were able to select the model, exterior color and interior. You also indicated the dealer of choice as part of your portal. Through the portal you could make changes to the selection until last fall when all of your choices were locked in. As part of that process reservation holders also received a phone call and information on the portal offering a reservationist discount to the MSRP. That price and process is being honored by most of the dealers who have delivered Ariyas thus far, according to the postings on this site. However, most of us are still waiting for our cars to arrive. The supply chain issues all automakers are dealing with has effected Ariya delivery dates. I suspect whether you choose to build and buy on line or order through a dealer it will be some months before you will be able to get a car.

Not All automakers are dealing with supply chain issues. Tesla has had no trouble building and delivering vehicles. In fact dealers are starting to have a surplus of vehicles on their lots since the chip shortage is getting better.

If you are interested in the Ariya and does not have a reservation, cold call 3 Nissan dealers (Fleet Mgr) nearby you. Tell them you are a motivated buyer and willing to wait for the reservation holders’ cancellations. Just tell them you will only buy at MSRP.

The way with the economy is nowadays, and with Tesla’s deep price cutting, they should be very happy that someone is still paying MSRP

Months ago? I reserved over a year ago lol.

The only benefits of reserving other than picking your exact trim - free Meta Quest 2 set and $1500ish reservationist offer than I can apply to any Ariya.

Congrats!

That very same White Evolve + has the exact same configuration as yours at Tustin Nissan as of last Sunday.

I told my sales guy that I want nothing added other than the premium paint markup. In hindsight, I believe this is bait and switch. We should not have to pay for the premium paint because it was not on the preorder checklist at the time of checkout.
