Received a random call from James @ Nissan (800 453 4440) asking if I would want to change my Platinum+ color to something other than red because there was some delays that would push my order until summer or late summer (I didn't hear the exact date as I was actually off roading in my Bronco at the time lol).

Anybody else get a call from Nissan recently?

My Platinum+ order from Jan 2022 has always been red. I have never changed my reservation either nor heard about Nissan not building them until I received a call today.

Received this e-mail today (March 8):
Hello xxxx,

We are reaching out regarding your 2023 ARIYA reservation.

Our 2023 Nissan ARIYA is fierce, yet refined. Elegant, yet exhilarating. It’s a totally new way to see electric driving. We’re reaching out to our ARIYA reservationists who have reserved a Platinum+ e-4ORCE all-wheel drive with Passion Red Tricoat exterior paint color. We are offering you the option to switch your exterior color to improve delivery timing of your ARIYA due to limited availability and high demand of the Passion Red Tricoat. Platinum+ e-4ORCE reservation units will begin arriving in the next few months. Not updating your color could push your delivery timing out beyond summer of 2023.We are asking that you look over these color options and contact one of our agents, before 5 PM EST on 3/8/2023

We are also happy to share that our Two-Tone Sunset Copper Pearl with the Black Diamond Pearl top, which was only available on the Premiere trim during the reservation period, is now one of the exterior color options available to you. Or you can choose from these exciting options:

We have 2 solid exterior color options:
* Black Diamond Pearl
*Gun Metallic

We also have 4 Two-Tone exterior color options:
** Everest White Pearl Tricoat/Black Diamond Pearl
** Boulder Gray Pearl/Black Diamond Pearl
** Sunset Copper Pearl/Black Diamond Pearl
**Deep Ocean Blue Pearl/Black Diamond Pearl

Visit the NissanUSA website here, to view your color options to assist you in making your best exterior color decision!

If you have further questions or would like to speak with one of our team members, please contact the ARIYA reservation team at (800) 335-1428 Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 8 PM EST. You may also click here to chat with us Monday through Sunday from 10 AM to 11 PM EST.

At Nissan, we are committed to the highest level of customer service. Please take a moment to provide your feedback through our quick survey: Click Here.

Thanks for being an ARIYA reservationist, we can’t wait to get you behind the wheel and on the road.

Sincerely,

James

To which I called and switched to Deep Ocean Blue Pearl. The rep said we could expect that combo in the AWD Platinum sometime in the "next few months," as opposed to
"perhaps late Fall" for the Passion Red. Amusing that some reservationist are being called directly, and others contacted by e-mail. No set protocol ! ! We reserved in early January of 2022, # 22XXX.

I had the same depressing call. I was really looking forward to the Red but just can't keep waiting forever. Also went with the blue thinking it would make the baby blue interior look less weird.

I have a theory. Nissan is hoping that they can somehow convince reservationists who chose Red when ordering Platinum+ trim to switch to another color. I suspect their interior design team finally came to their senses that red combined with baby blue interior (only interior color offered for Platinum +) would be a disaster. ie if Passion Red Tricoat was really that difficult to resource why did they recently produce this Empower + trim with charcoal interior? The screen shot below is from a YouTube video published early last month.

Another thought just occurred to me (if my theory is accurate) when you get that call from Nissan asking to switch from red………ask the Nissan representative, if I hold out for red can you build it for me with a vegan charcoal leather interior?

I tried. They said no, baby blue is the only option for Platinum. I'm sure someone will wake up to the error of this and by next year Platinum trims will have choices on the interior.
