Passion Red Tricoat Platinum+ delayed until summer (at least)

Received a random call from James @ Nissan (800 453 4440) asking if I would want to change my Platinum+ color to something other than red because there was some delays that would push my order until summer or late summer (I didn't hear the exact date as I was actually off roading in my Bronco at the time lol).

Anybody else get a call from Nissan recently?

Ohio I would fly and drive home from. Plenty of charging from there to NH and I could be a little leisurely about it by stoping in a Hotel halfway with an EV charger. I just reached out to the dealer.
Good luck!

The OH dealer said I won't be able to transfer or apply my reservation credit.

Are they saying that because they think they can sell it quickly at or above MSRP?

No, I'm thinking out of ignorance. I called the 800 Nissan Ariya number and confirmed that they should be able to. Apparently the reservation holder for this Ariya was actually one of the sales people at the dealership but it came in faster than he thought and he's still tied to a lease on his current vehicle so it's available. I responded back to them with the info from Nissan so we'll see how it goes. They did at least confirm that we could handle the sale all through phone and email so I don't have to fly or drive there and then rot at the dealership for another 6 hours playing the car buy game.

Dang, sounds like you may actually pull it off. I’m rooting for you.

That’s actually not an accurate statement by that OH dealership. I had no problem getting my reservation credit from a dealer outside of m original reservation. I called the Ariya hot line when I purchased our NL Evolve + outside of my original reservation and all the dealer had to do was contact his regional rep to make the necessary arrangements with Nissan NA so they would get reimbursed for my $1240.00 reservation credit. ……….and My original Deep Ocean Blue Evolve + reservation eventually landed at the original dealer I routed it to. So when my DOB arrived at my local dealer all I had to do was to cancel my reservation so my local dealer could sell that car to someone else.

So fingers crossed. I worked out the deal with the OH dealership to buy the Red Ariya and have it shipped here. I considered driving out there but at 11 hour each way shipping it is going to be cheaper and less annoying. They are still struggling a bit to apply the reservation credit. It's been back and forth with them and the Ariya reservation line. The hangup now is apparently the current reservation dealership releasing my reservation which they are being dicks about. If I lose it I lose it at this point but will continue to fight for it.

Obviously couldn't trade my current vehicle in (2015 Murano) so I sold it to a different Nissan dealer here. They gave me $2K over KBB trade value so I'm happy with that. Now I'm just carless until the Ariya deal is done and arrives here.

sounds Like a big hassle, but in the end, you’ll be one of very few Ariya owners. An elite of the elite.

It is but I'm tired of waiting and If I took the Blue one they were going to give me because I can't have Red I'd be bitter the whole time. So on that front, hassle is worth it.

That's great you're able to get the red one! Congratulations in advance, and enjoy after it arrives!

So my original dealership I had the reservation with is intentionally being a-holes and refusing to release the reservation so I can get the credit at the other dealership. It been all day long calls with Ariya support, Nissan corp, and both dealerships. It's gotten to the point that NIssan has conference called them and trying to get them to do it and they just keep throwing up excuse after excuse. First it was only the GM can do that and he's in a meeting, then it's the EV guy isn't here, then it's "not sure how to do that" even though Ariya support is literally telling them how to do it.

Tomorrow morning I will give up my attempt to claim the credit and move forward without it. These clowns near me have lost a customer for life. They're also about to lose a corporate customer who buys 3-8 vehicles a year off them. Makes no sense they're doing this when they don't even have my reservation car yet, probably hasn't even been built yet. Literally everyone is at a loss on why they are being this difficult.

Could the selling dealer step up and offer you $1240+ discount? A Platinum+ has a lot of profit build into the MSRP. Oh, ask for the free all weather floor mats too!
They’re already stepping up and covering the transport cost to get it to me. I don’t really care about the floor mats. As soon as weathertech gets the custom mats for the Ariya I’ll buy those.

So sorry to hear about the dumdums at the original dealership. Sometimes people don't do their jobs unless they have a fire lit beneath them, and then when their pants are on fire they couldn't even piss on themselves to save their lives!

Some of these Nissan dealers need to understand that the Ariya buyers are a different class of buyers that require white glove treatments. We are longer the buyers that step into their dealerships buying Sentra, Versa, Rogue, Altima, etc.

They keep up with this same poor sales attitude and Tesla will wipe them off completely.

The dealership model for new cars needs to die.

I was at the EV Expo today in Long Beach. I sat inside the BMW iX. Guess what color interior was? Blue suede (faux?) everywhere! You think Ariya Platinum blue interior is bad. Check out the photos I took...

Although I did not test drive the iX, I was turned off by their doors. It felt very thin and cheap! The doors have frameless windows. When I closed the doors, it had a horrible clank sound instead of the "thump" sound when closing.

@voxel , Ariya seems to be better built than your beloved iX.

Sheesh! What's the deal with the blue "suede" stuff?

Without a doubt, Ariya Platinum is money well spent compared to what I’ve seen today at the Expo.

Sounds like the IX model on display at the Long Beach Expo this year had automatic soft close doors. You just have to get the door close to the latch and it will electronically suck it in to make the final latch. However, if you attempt to close it like a typical door, it will definitely make a terrible clank. I suspect a BMW rep had left the car unattended when you were viewing it Hank or he/she would have been quick to point that out. When I viewed the IX in Seattle
at last years Expo I wasnt impressed either and it didn’t even have blue interior. I Especially dislike the ugly kidney grille on that one. Alex Guberman of “E for Electric“ refers to the IX as having a Monkey-Butt grille which I believe describes it pretty well.
