Passion Red Tricoat Platinum+ delayed until summer (at least)

Received a random call from James @ Nissan (800 453 4440) asking if I would want to change my Platinum+ color to something other than red because there was some delays that would push my order until summer or late summer (I didn't hear the exact date as I was actually off roading in my Bronco at the time lol).

Anybody else get a call from Nissan recently?

Sounds like the IX model on display at the Long Beach Expo this year had automatic soft close doors. You just have to get the door close to the latch and it will electronically suck it in to make the final latch. However, if you attempt to close it like a typical door, it will definitely make a terrible clank. I suspect a BMW rep had left the car unattended when you were viewing it Hank or he/she would have been quick to point that out. When I viewed the IX in Seattle
at last years Expo I wasnt impressed either and it didn’t even have blue interior. I Especially dislike the ugly kidney grille on that one. Alex Guberman of “E for Electric“ refers to the IX as having a Monkey-Butt grille which I believe describes it pretty well.
A BMW rep was standing next to me when I showed him how awful the door sounded when I closed the door. Because the door is frameless around the glass window, the seal is not air tight. I did not notice the electronic latch as you mentioned. I slammed the door like I normally do with all cars.

in my opinion, the best doors are built by Volvo. It feels solid and very heavy. It has a nice vacuum seal sound as I close the driver side door.

I spent most of my day test riding e-bikes. E-bikes are super fun!
I was at the EV Expo today in Long Beach. I sat inside the BMW iX. Guess what color interior was? Blue suede (faux?) everywhere! You think Ariya Platinum blue interior is bad. Check out the photos I took...

Although I did not test drive the iX, I was turned off by their doors. It felt very thin and cheap! The doors have frameless windows. When I closed the doors, it had a horrible clank sound instead of the "thump" sound when closing.

@voxel , Ariya seems to be better built than your beloved iX.

OMG, that interior is a CRIME! I feel like I’m back in the ‘70’s, yeesh
It’s the Monkey Butt grill that kills me. I really like the I4 M50 all except for that grill. and it is a little pricey and no $7500 but it is that god awful grill, fix that and sell more cars BMW

The main reason I love the iX is the air suspension. It’s as buttery smooth as the Ford Lightning and e-Tron. The acceleration on the M60 trim is supercar like and visibility is excellent compared to most compact EV crossovers. It truly feels like driving a turbo charged bus. The 30 speaker Bowers and Wilkers audio system is just icing. Anyhow, it’s $140K for the top trim and has a completely different ownership demographic compared to the Ariya. I test drove the $160K XM recently during the XM tour events and didn’t care for the V8 plug-in hybrid drivetrain. The next day I test drove the GV60 Performance and thought that was a great EV for $69K (plus $7500 lease credit) but only marginally better than top trim Ioniq 5s.
