Yeah I just don't get the idea of the Rivian -- I keep thinking "all that money and it's STILL not a Porsche (or other luxury or performance car)". But to each their own! This was a low quality video. Kyle justifying why he told his entire family to buy an ID4. I get his love for the Tesla but, all the reasons that he likes it are all the same reasons I don't. I also am not going to take financial and economy advice from a guy that bought a $100K plus Riven that has the economy of a brick. His opinion is disingenuous and a waste of time. No one buys an EV to road trop 1000's of miles in low comfort all through the night.
TBF to Kyle, his Rivian "only" cost him ~70k since it was a launch edition. I think you're confusing it with the money he spent on the Model S Plaid. Easy to mix them up since he bought them less than 10 days apart. Which only further validates not taking financial advice from the guy. I guess he's doing something right if he can afford all of those vehicles but his sensibilities are definitely different than a lot of other people. I still watch all of his videos and completely disagree with the majority of his critiques on the Ariya but to each their own, I guess. This was a low quality video. I believe YT's frequently flip the vehicles they purchase as well, taking advantage of the tax credit (at least for the Rivian) while also using it as a business expense for more content.TBF to Kyle, his Rivian "only" cost him ~70k since it was a launch edition. The EV welfare check is a strong force in the market. Free government money for buying the next luxury car has all the high earners weighing the options.Kyle is spot on. I was looking at one, until the Ariya stopped qualifying for the Federal Tax Credit. The local dealer, Stafford Brown in VA, that has 2 dealerships, have 31 on their lot and its been like that for weeks. They are not selling. I will consider one again if they drop the price. Too bad, its a nice car.
I love Kyle but I take how information that applies to my concerns and don’t just sit there and agree with everything he says. For one, he’s not me. I can’t blow hundred of thousands of dollars collecting all of the cool new EVs he has. Second, he’s a race and power guy. I most definitely am not. I want my roll down the highways and biways to be smooth, comfortable (for me and my passengers) and in my budget. He talks like he’s concerned with those things, and maybe he is, but he has far more vehicle options to suit his mood.
