PPF/Tint

Just dropped off my Ariya for PPF install and tint. The shop mentioned that they won’t do the film over the kumiko pattern grill since there may be radar sensors in there that could be obstructed. They were right, had to look it up in the manual. They also confirmed they don’t have a template since it’s so new so they’ll be cutting by hand.

They’re also putting a ceramic tint on the windows (50%) for UV protection, none of the windows came with any tint whatsoever. Will update with photos once it’s done. Would love to know if any other owners have already gotten either?

Great, the kumiko pattern grill is probably the spot ppf is going to be most needed!

LOL YEP it’s most of the front!
I would expect a clear vinyl only could work given the plastic is already a solid object in front of the sensor, but someone would have to test that.
Only doing the clear Xpel wrap but I trust the guys at the shop. I figure if they mentioned it, it’s enough of an issue they’ve seen before and I don’t want to be the first to break things. Just saw that the manual says not to at all.

I wonder if the Ariya being classified as a “wagon” instead of an SUV has something to do with the lack of tint.
Some of the early review videos do show vehicles with tint (but some don't), so perhaps it is an added option that we don't have access to yet, like choices of floor mats, cargo area mat, and other odds and ends.
I saw those videos as well and I think you’re right. My Premiere came with the illuminated kick plates that I knew were supposed to be included but also Premiere branded mats, for which I had to pay extra.

the real good experience tinters don’t ever used a machine for cutting the template. They do the old fashion way (free hand with a sharp box cutter style blade).

How much are you paying for ceramic tints? I was quoted $350.

I plan to black out the Ariya emblem, along with adding 19” gloss black wheels on my Pearl White Ariya

I actually want some floor mats. I noticed on the window sticker photos of the two Premieres that were delivered by Tustin a few weeks ago that one of them did include floor mats, but the other did not. I'm not sure why just one of them would have the mats included. They both included additional charges for "premium paint", although I guess one was more premium than the other (premium 2-tone paint was 695, plain old premium paint was 395, and the one with the 395 paint had the mats added for another 230 I think).

Check out this guy's floor mats.

Personally, I prefer Costco's Weathertech rubber floor mats. I hate the OEM carpeted floor mats because they get dirty very easily.

Cool! Yes, the cloth kind do get dirty fast. Now I also want those side mirrors with the integrated turn signals -- I think those are on the Platinum trim level though.

I noticed at 1:08 min in video it does show where you could put a spare (donut tire style) what is the dimension of this spot. I plan to carry a donut tire when I do vacation or long trips. I feel this is needed because at night tire dealers are closed .I would have my AAA or Nissan towing then change tire. Odds are will never need but I cant chance having to tow to closed tire store then having to get ride from store then back to store..Like I said I would install for long trips or vacation but I will test out driving range with it sitting in back also. I also did test drive in Northern Calif. yesterday my dealer says until it says IN TRANSIT on his computer when he pulls up my car we are still waiting. #139XX Evolve. I counted under 50 Ariyas delivered so far on this site??I have talked to multiple dealers they still say no clue. Yes Nissan did deliver late fall/end of year but not MANY?? They misled us once again BIG TIME also still have ho info: on VR Headset?? Hopefully hear something soon. If FWD are this slow getting out WHAT will happen to AWD deliveries. Not starting Nissan New Year on right foot..

as far as I know, I think the outside mirrors with the LED turning signals is a standard feature for all trims.

Only for Platinum in the US. Would be nice if it could be retrofitted.

The spot at 1:08 is the subwoofer location, the foam piece has to be removed to see underneath.

Oh wow, those mats are funky. These are the mats that came with mine.
I do prefer the rubber floor mats, still waiting on Weathertech to get their templates in for the Ariya.

That's a great price! With the tint and wrap, a crazy $2400 total. I'm in the Los Angeles area if that explains things.

Yes I would like to know what all available options there are for US customers, besides illuminated kick plates and carpeted floor mats.

You can get the rubber floor mats from Costco. It's Weathertech brand. Some Costco stores have started selling Michelin rubber floor mats, and have discontinued Weathertech brand. Either brand, it's $30 for a full set (front and back).
