Greetings:

Although the AWD is not yet available in the US, is it still possible to "preorder" or place a deposit on one, or is the only to obtain one early to submit a quote request via the NissanUSA build web page and wait/hope the dealer I sent the request to will eventually contact me?

Thank you.

I think you'll likely have to go with the latter. I would expect that Nissan won't accept custom orders until after they have shipped the majority of the reservation holders vehicles. As to when that will happen... 🤷‍♂️ maybe summer/fall this year?

I use to think that custom Ariya orders would be filled as you described as well. However my original reservation (initiated April 1, 2022) as of yesterday had not been assigned a VIN or a build date yet Interestingly enough, my dealer had an orphaned Evolve + NL paint arriving soon that I could swap for my original Evolve + reservation. I was shocked to learn that this NL Evolve + I now plan to take delivery of was actually an order that was generated from a cancelled “shop on line “ customer order. What’s alarming is this particular order was placed after the official US Ariya launch in September 2022. So why should Joe customer ordering on line after September 27, 2022 be able to take delivery of their Ariya before my Ariya is even assigned a VIN is a mystery. Makes me wonder if reservation holders are being discriminated against because we’re entitled to a $1240. reservation credit?

I agree it seems that way. Maybe I'll order an AWD online and it will get here before the Premiere I reserved so long ago.

I am wondering if there is an enterprising person out there on this forum (perhaps in Japan🙂) who could tell us when AWD production for North America has started. Add two months for dealer delivery. I am still not getting any info from the dealer. They seem to be as in the dark as customers.

I'd call the dealers first. Test drive if you can. Some are taking deposits, but you need to clarify that you are interested in the AWD only. Unfortunately, most dealers have no idea when those will come available. Because of that and the fact that the FWD pre-orders still haven't been fulfilled, I haven't placed a deposit with any of them. I just asked that they keep me informed. So far, they are staying in general contact. 3 of the 4 dealers I've spoken with were taking deposits though.

Considering that Nissan still says "early 2023" for the AWD, it is quite troubling that dealers have no clue on AWD deliveries.

My dealer as of last Monday still couldn’t see a VIN established for my FWD Evolve + reservation I placed on April 1, - yet FWD reservations that were placed on line last fall by a “shop at home” John Doe are now starting to show up at dealerships. My dealer shared when I spoke to them last week that they have a FWD Evolve + scheduled to arrive March 6. and that order had been initiated by Nissans’s “shop at home”:program. Unfortunately this customer has never made contact with my dealer as they continue to ghost them each time an attempt is made to let them know their Ariya will be arriving soon. So yeah just another example that Nissan of North America continues to do a poor job of coordinating a comprehensive production schedule and communicating with their dealers.

It is troubling. I'm in the Midwest and even though we have several dealerships locally, it seems as if the West Coast and other more EV-focused states see more Ariyas and information which it is what it is. However, being in the Midwest, the AWD is going to be of more interest here. One dealer told me June at the earliest. I'm keeping my options open at this point.

I just received a call from Nissan asking me if I wanted to change the requested color for my Platinum as the red will not be delivered until "well in to the Fall." Apparently they are out of the color or something to that effect. By switching to one of several other color options I was told it was "likely" I would receive the car by July 1. In his words the distribution of the AWD vehicles will "begin in the next month or so." Fingers crossed for all of us waiting in line.

Did you hold out for red?

Wow. Did they offer more than the black, white or grey that was originally offered at reservation time?

For Platinum AWD, choices for US were limited to black, white, red and grey, all with the blue-grey interior. I think Canada and the UK had additional choices...
The copper and blue are now available for the Platinum, according to the broc I picked up at the dealer. I would think if they are offering to switch to another color, those options should be available.

I wonder where your dealer is getting information. My dealer in OR appears to have no information on delivery dates for the AWD.
