What are the options for charging Ariay away from home?

1. EVGo (very few or none outside the main city)

2. ChargePoint (There are various location but they advertised around 18-19 miles per hour or 6.6 KW. Are they really slow?)

If I am making 4-5 hour trip away from home (Phoenix area), need to know what are good options for charging before I buy the car (ready at dealership now).

Thanks.

Electrify America has a fairly vast & fast charging network. They are my second choice if EVgo is absent in my route plan.

Electrify AmerIca might be your best bet at this moment. Howeber, be aware that if you’re heading into below freezing temps some of their charger gear have reportedly had some issues.

The Ariya Venture+ 2023 dashboard that I received has a gas station icon. I assumed that this is just a place-holder for listing the nearby charging stations. But ironically it actually shows the nearby gas stations! What is going on! A list of chargers to a destination is just a basic service that an EV information screen should provide! Did someone get the concept wrong? How to plan a long trip with this car?

It also shows nearby charging stations (if there are any). The map routing works a lot like ABRP and will suggest charging locations if the route is long enough to need charging. I compared it with ABRP for two longer trips and a shorter trip: Dayton to DC, and Dayton to Drummond Island, MI were the long ones, Dayton to Akron was the shorter one. Both long routes were the same as ABRP, or had the same option - Nissan's stuck to highways while ABRP's route to DC took me off the highway for a while with the highway being an alternate suggestion, with the same suggested charge stops. The routing appear to work pretty good. Nissan's route to Akron suggested a stop for charging that shouldn't be necessary for me, but wasn't unreasonable.

Yes, it also shows gas stations, and of course there are a lot more of those. I'd guess they're just part of the map database, and still handy if one wants to stop for a bathroom or snack.

Probably not because in the future certain gas stations will also have EV chargers.

Your best bet is to download the Plugshare app. It will specify all the EV stations across America

That is a very good suggestion. I did download Plugshare app and I was able to do some route plannings. Interestingly, the app was able to detect the battery charging status of the car. I am not sure how it was able to do it. In the app, I only provided the make and model of the car. Maybe EVs broadcast certain car status information over the air and apps can pick the information up. That is very useful but a bit scary!

Oh that is interesting! Do you use any other app that it might be tapping into?
