Questions for Ariya Owners

Hello All,

I am seriously considering the Ariya as my next purchase and have watched many review videos and looked over posts in the forums and on Reddit. However, I couldn't quite find the answer to some of my questions.

1) Does the Ariya have color ambient lighting that can be changed in settings? It looks like there is only lighting that coincides with the status of the car, such as charging.

2) Are the 19" wheels on the Ariya a hub cap over a rim? It looks like it, but I haven't been able to confirm. Most reviews seem to gloss over it or don't speak enough on it.

3) The battery is heated from what I read. Is this a controllable feature?

4) Some trunks look as if there is room for a spare, then I see others where it doesn't look like a spare is possible. What is the truth here?

Thanks.

Battery is heated and battery heating can be turned on from the EV settings on the display very easily. This really helped us in our Boston to NY road-trip this weekend for fast charging when the weather was 40F. with battery heating instead of 40-50kw the charging speed hit 90Kw at the fast charger. Battery heat need to be turned on 30 min before fast charging for best effect.

Does battery heating help with range? As in, 30 minutes before leaving on a cold winter day, with the car plugged in, turn on battery heater. Does this improve efficiency for the 40 minute drive? If so, at below what temperature does the use of heater help?

Thank you! Exactly what I needed to know! Midwest living here.

There is room for a spare. I don’t know if there’s room for a full spare. I will find out later this week. If the compartment can fit a full spare (instead of a doughnut), I plan to sell off my wheels to those who want a full spare wheel in their trunk.

Yes, there are 5 individual plastic inserts that make up the entire hub cap. You can read my thread on the 19” OEM Gloss Black wheels to get acquainted with the wheels on the Ariya.

Ariya is DA BOMB. With less than 3 weeks of ownership , I have over 1100 miles ridden on it. It’s mostly for joy ride with free unlimited charging. 😊

Thanks Hank, I just saw your new wheels thread after I posted this one. Very helpful! Too bad I’m not in Cali to take advantage of the dealer service and pricing there. Unfortunately my experience has been less than stellar so far, but I have time before committing to a purchase.

What about controllable ambient lighting?

The battery heating helps to increase the charging rate if your battery is cold. It actually decreases the range, so if you’re on your last leg of a trip, no need to preheat the battery. It’s only used on charging stops in the middle of a longer trip.

1. Some do, some don't... Check the features by trim. (I think Premier and Empower do? Evolve doesn't.)
2. Neither? Both? They're alloy wheels with multiple inserts. The inserts probably help a little with aerodynamics, but the wheels also look good without them.
3. Yes. Not only is it controllable, you must control it. It's not automatic.
4. On FWD models there's a floor with storage above where the spare would go that most people don't remove. Under that is a foam insert. Remove the foam insert, and there's a spot for a limited-service spare. Nissan doesn't offer one, and doesn't say what size would fit, so it'll take someone some experimentation to figure this out. NOTE: This might not be true on the AWD version. No one has seen what's under the floor on that one yet, and it's possible that space isn't present on that version. Also, on models with the premium sound system, the sub may be in that space.

The under floor storage is shown In the video review found in In-depth AWD review (Europe) most of the storage is gone

Looks like others have already answered all the other questions except for #1. I have the Premiere and you cannot change the color of the ambient lighting. You can only set brightness levels. If you're not using Propilot, the cabin lights are white all the time (the kumiko pattern ones and the light strip on the doors). The light strip is the only one that changes colors when you are using Propilot (blue or green).

Dear Nissan Ariya owners in the United States.
Can you check in the settings of your Ariya, whether you have in the language settings - the Russian language?
Thank you.
I park car in the garage, on next Monday morning temp will drop to 37°F, do I need to turn battery heater on? I'm not driving car at the moment (no toll tag yet) so not sure if I need to do anything with it. Thanks.

Only if you plan to use DCFC. No need to turn it on for driving or L1/L2 charging.

If you’re not charging the battery, there’s no need to do anything. Just start up the vehicle and go. Zoom zoom.!

Thanks. Right now I can only drive around town, and suddenly getting cold here, so kinda defeat the purpose..

No, the driver display only shows English, Spanish, and French language choices. The digital rear view mirror has more languages but that's only for that menu in the mirror. Maybe because that feature is used in other Nissan cars.

How do you access that?
