Rear view camera mirror getting hot

Has anyone noticed the rear view camera mirror can get quite hot after being used for > 30 mins, and is this typical for any camera mirror?
I first noticed when adjusting the rear view camera mirror, while charging and felt quite warm inside the car, that it was hot to the touch both at the front and back. From now on, I'll make sure it's off while not driving, and limit its use in warm weather since I don't want to add a heater wasting energy.

That's expected of camera mirrors. We also have a Toyota Venza with an even larger camera mirror than the Ariya, and it gets even hotter!
Obviously, if you want to save electrons and reduce heat, turn it off.

Thank you for your response. Good to know it's not any issue with the car. I'll be more conservative on using this feature in the warmer weather.

Like all electronics, it will generate some heat with normal usage. It probably uses heatsinks to disapate the heat as I don't hear any fan noise. You can try lowering the brightness (backlit) to see if it run cooler.

Our other car does not have as fancy of a camera mirror, but the assembly that the mirror is wired and attached to -- that assembly is usually warm to the touch. On the plus side, in the dead of winter it can provide another heating source!
How do you turn it off? I look at it just to see what's in the back, any one tail gaiting "admiring" my ride :). Other than that, I don't have a need to use the camera, so turn it off might be ok.

It toggles between camera view and "normal" view the way regular mirrors switch for anti-glare -- there is a tab at the bottom that goes forwards and back.

Yes, a very quiet heater during winter or overnight sleep in.
