Just got call from Nissan that my Ariya has a recall for potentially loose steering wheel nut. NHSTA site is down for VIN lookups now but Nissan’s own lookup page shows this for my VIN:

STEERING WHEEL NUT
Effective Date: February 21st, 2023

Here's the site for looking this up:

Just checked mine. No recalls. I must not be the right kind of nut.

I checked too. No open recalls for my Venture+

Nothing on my Evolve +. I wish there was a recall on my Ariya. This is just so that I can get a free car wash!

What was your build date and what trim do you have? Engage+ 7/22?

This is a GREAT link to have for those who have NOT taken delivery of your Ariya. Check to see if your vin # has a recall before signing the contract. You certainly don't want to be inconvenience for coming back to do a service recall....

Mine is an Evolve+. Build date is 07/22. They had me wiggle/pull on the steering wheel to see if it had play, which I knew it did not. if there was play, they said they would have it towed to the dealer. Otherwise just make an appointment, which I will do. Not happy about having to take time to do this but I wouldn’t want the steering wheel to come off while driving — especially with passengers in the car!
This is nuts! Luckily I don't have a recall.

While you're at the dealer, ask if you have the latest and greatest OS (whatever that means if you know what I mean).

Most of us have 11/22 build date.
NHTSA site is back up — that does not show any recalls for my vin but the Nissan site does:
I got a phone call about the recall on my Evolve+. The recall also shows up in my dashboard on the owners site. In 2 weeks, I'm taking the car on my first extended road trip so I'll definitely take the car in for service. Hopefully they don't break anything while taking the steering column apart.

Instructions unclear. I don't have a VIN #, only a vague assurance that my Ariya will be available in "Early 2023" 😁
No recall on my Evolve+, build date 11/22.

The GM of a Nissan dealership I spoke with last Saturday said this steering recall is specific to “early Ariya build dates shipped to the US. Although he wasn’t specific what he meant by “early“ . His Engage trim demo had a build date of 07/22 and was part of this recall. So it’s at least worth the effort to check the VIN against this recall notice if your Ariya has a build date of 07/22.
I wasn’t really expecting anything different - but, I called my dealer and made an appointment for the recall fix only to get a call back later telling me that “Nissan has not yet made the parts available“. They’ll let me know when they hear from Nissan. Ahmm, ok, then why did Nissan call me multiple times yesterday until I answered and got the message that there was a recall? The dichotomy of “Nissan” and “Nissan Dealers” …

Have you called back to Nissan HQ and specifically asked if they have the parts available to do the repair? Perhaps get first hand info directly from them instead of Nissan Dealer.

No, but I will do that because, right now, I may have an unsafe vehicle. Of course, I would be none the wiser if Nissan had not contacted me. Steering feels rock solid to me but I’m not taking chances with, say, grandchildren in the vehicle.

Just spoke to Nissan. They also help set up appointments at the local dealer after confirming the VIN is impacted. So confirms parts are there. My Evolve+ is impacted.
Have you confirmed that the part(s) are actually available? I called the Nissan Consumer Line (which is the line/name they left on an earlier voicemail about the recall — curiously, the greeting message on that line says “Nissan Takata recall”!). All they could do was call another dealer for me but, after waiting, they said that dealer did not answer and that I should call them. I’ll try some other number …
Interesting surprise. Nissan recall line made an appointment with a local dealer, connected us and disconnected. Dealer after few minutes come back and says they have no parts. They cannot even see the car as once they see the car, they have to do something about it and since they don't have parts to do something about it, they wont see the car. Not a good experience at all.

Wow it better be a really special nut!
