Anyone did a long trip using the Ariya? Going to Denver from Seattle, suggestions and tips welcome!

I've done several, but none quite that far. My longest (so far) was 1000 miles round trip (Dayton to DC), and just today I got back from a 900 mile trip (Dayton to Rochester).

Advice: Plan in advance. Use ABRP to help plan the route. Enter your model car and it will suggest charge stops. Use PlugShare - EV Charging Station Map - Find a place to charge to make sure recent checkins at the suggested chargers are good, and to identify nearby alternatives just in case. So far, I've not had any significant issues and not had to use any of the backup options. It gets easier with each trip.

In a little under two weeks I’ll be doing 2,800 miles from Seattle to Michigan. I’ve already routed it all out with ABRP, spotted all the hotels/motels with chargers and checked that the stations look good on PlugShare.

If your long road trip passes anywhere near a casino, stop there. Many have free EV charging stations. Just don't go inside or it may cost you significantly more.

Thanks guys! We plotted a route using PlugShare. ABRP was planning a terrible route for the last leg with no dcfc

Thank you! I used PlugShare to route as ABRP kept routing me to L2 stations (probably as that route is the shortest distance). Have you driven across any elevation and at 75 mph? What was the efficiency like?

The trip to DC included some mild elevation changes through the Appalachians. Generally speaking, it didn't affect range much. I gained on the way back down what I lost on the way up. Members out West likely have more experience with elevation changes.

Drove from Seattle area to SoCal (2800 miles round trip). Lots of chargers on west coast, no so many between Denver and Seattle. I did drive from Seattle to Yellowstone last summer and found a dearth of chargers. Mostly at truck stops and Walmart (Electrify America). Plan on getting about 200-miles between charging due to driving speed( 70+) and 80% charge. Also about $25+ per charge.

Thank you! The longest leg I am going without charging is about 180 miles…been planning out charging stops a 100 miles apart as a precaution. Hopefully it’ll go well!

Avoid I80 through WY. Once in Colorado on I70 no problems with finding good chargers. I live near Boulder and have driven to LA a few weeks ago. As far as elevation gains just charge up every 100 miles. Descending into Denver from the Eisenhower Tunnel you will hardly use any charge as it is all 5000 feet downhill for over 60 miles. I use ECO and stay below 70.

Thank you! Yeah skipping WY entirely..so current plan is below. Would love your opinion on it

Always check the status of the next charger. Green River UT in the past has been a real bottleneck. They recently upgraded it and should be fine. Don't count on the coffee shop as it is open when the owner feels like it. Not much to see there. There is a park just south of it and a funky Mexican food cart that I really enjoy just a few yards from the park on the main road.
I don't know why you have two Green River entries as it is the same.
Grand Junction has great chargers. Use the EA ones off of Independence Avenue. Edwards is also great and it is right off of I70. I have the Venture+ so I easily can go the rest of the way to Denver. I can't speak for any of the Denver/Littleton stations as I rarely use any. You should not have any problem either. Just make sure you charge up in Edwards above 80% to have a more secure feeling. AND most importantly have a great time I70 should be clear and the weather great and the scenery terrific.

(minor correction: The park one block from the coffee shop in Green River is not south of the coffee shop but east.)

Thank you! You are awesome!!! We were hoping green river will be a long stop if the coffee shop is open lol. It probably shows it twice as ABRP added amenities. We have the platinum + so I’m having an extra 10 percent buffer everyone till
I have a good handle on HW efficiency. What was the efficiency of your venture + on I-70?

I kept notes going from Boulder to LA: Boulder 100%. Boulder to Edwards arrived 59%; 3.8 efficiency; charged to 94%; 130 miles: Edwards to Grand Junction arrived 61%; 4.9 efficiency; charged to 93%; 135 miles: Grand Junction to Green River arrived 59%; 3.3 efficiency; charged to 99%; 99 miles. It is going to be different going the other way.
Going west to east I charged up in Richfield UT to 99%. Thinking I would charge up again in Green River I had bad luck as all chargers were down for upgrade work. My next closest was Grand Junction which is 222 miles from Richfield UT. When I got to Grand Junction I still had 32% with efficiency of 3.9. Grand Junction to Glenwood Springs was 117 miles arriving with 59% with 3.8 efficiency. Then came the amazing part Glenwood Springs to Boulder 179 miles still having 49% and 5.1 efficiency. I did not stop at Edwards.

Total from La to Boulder 1085 miles with 3.9 efficiency.

Update: reached Denver. It was great! Car averaged around 260 miles in terms of range. Had consistent charging experiences so far

Any secret to your consistent charging experience? Did you use any particular brand charging station? Did you find any one app that worked best for locating charging stations? I've owned two Nissan EVs and a Tesla. Tesla's charging infrastructure makes long drives easy. By contrast, I've found the network outside Tesla to be inconsistent and frustrating, and the charge-station apps to be the same.

I mean other than checking PlugShare / EA apps nothing special. I stuck to EA through out ..
Check plugshare before leaving... So far though, they've all been good.
