Time for me to step away folks. It seems like I'm headed to the Tesla and I don't want to undermine those of you enjoying your Ayiya's. Should things change and I keep my Ariya reservation I'll be back. For now though I feel like it's bad manners to keep talking about the "Y" here. My best to all of you!

That's a respectable position. Thanks!
I'm not going to talk about alternatives here on the Ariya forum either. Rather, I'll stay focused on what I'm unhappy about (trying to be fair about what Nissan can and cannot influence), hoping that someone from Nissan corporate cares enough to read this forum and pay attention to customer sentiment.

I sincerely hope you end up with a quality build as the odds are pretty likely there are a few out there.
Best wishes and be safe!

Same here d. I’ve owned every single iteration of the Leaf. I was a loyal Nissan fan. I ordered the Premiere on day 2 of orders being open on the website. After seeing people getting their Premiere’s with higher numbers in the same configuration - and me not even getting a VIN or production date I decided not to give Nissan my husiness. Their rollout was a disaster. Their poor local dealership was pissed about it too. My sales guy was amazing- we still keep in touch. Just stopped by to show him my model Y. He also told me that Nissan lost 5 pre-orders at that single location alone becuase of the crappy rollout. Folks bought Teslas, VWs, and Kias. I hope folks get to enjoy their Ariyas.

In the meantime I’m loving my new Y.

i get so many looks from Tesla owners. I like to “rub it in” that my panoramic moonroof opens and closes by sticking my hand out the moonroof. Bammm! Take that! How can anyone living in SoCal not be able to use a “functional moonroof”? 😂

The front headlights from the Ariya are way more beautiful than the MY once the lights are turned on in the evening. It glows bright white! It gets so much attention at the traffic stop light. It’s like a Cadillac Escalade headlights.

The rear taillights from theAriya looks similar to a Porsche Cayenne.

MY has nothing unique about it,🥱

Lol I can't stand that fixed glass.

I feel you that there is nothing unique about the tesla. I never cared for the looks at all, not sure what everyone sees in them. Looks like a jelly bean or an egg with wheels. At least most of them, there Is one model that looks decent and Different not sure what it's called.

But when I drove it I felt every crack in the road it felt like. (Model y) It has the suspension of a tractor.

Was as a local RC club event today and a fellow flyer came up and asked me about my new car... He got a MY right at the start of January (right before the price decrease). I showed him around my car some and let him sit in it, and he pretty quickly decided he liked it better than his MY. He loved the driver's information display, HUD, moon roof that opens and has a shade, buttons on the wheel, normal stalks, buttons (even if haptic) on the dash and console.. He's thinking about buying aftermarket accessories for his Y that would add some of those features, but one has to go out their way to do that. He also felt a bit burned by Tesla, with the price decrease coming right after he got his. I also pointed the things that are better about the MY, especially the better phone app, more power, more efficient, and charging network. The only one that really resonated with him is Tesla's charging network.

There are lots of brands of car, all different, in part because different people like different things and have different needs. I hope everyone is happy with their choice, whatever it is.

My neighbor with top of the line 2022 MY test drove my Evolve + the other day. He definitely thinks it rides more smoothly and more plush than his MY. His only beef was lack of performance on the Evolve (rightfully so). I told him to compare it with Ariya AWD Platinum before judging.

Ariya is like a Lexus vs a BMW Tesla. Different strokes for different folks. If anything, I think he’s pissed that he paid $85K for it.

They definitely have the better charging network.

I think that's why they are hesitant to open their chargers to the rest of the vehicles because it will hurt their sales. They know other cars are better and the biggest advantage they have are the chargers. They were supposed to open them up like a year ago. I figure they will keep delaying it long as they can because once that's open these other EVs about to start selling like crazy. You think dealers are selling over msrp now? Wait til the chargers open.

That's a big reason I got my vehicle now, I planned to wait til the end of the year to get one but wanted to get in before the flood gates open up.

I was at the dog park yesterday. A guy with his Model 3 quickly went over to my Ariya and asked how I liked it. Long story short, his biggest complaint was his M3 fit and finished. He was very surprised how little I paid for my Evolve +….

The people here in Orange County, CA have never heard of Nissan Ariya…Now they WILL! It’s difficult not to notice because it stands out from the crowd..

That's a big reason I bought one now because the Ariya is really good and probably one of the best looking EVs, it's just a matter of time before the stampede starts and everyone is looking for one. I'm surprised at the little interest to this point it has built though.

I call it “the BBQ heat dome”.

I was in LA last week. I tried driving with the sunshade opened just to see how the MY drivers feel. The weather was in the high 70s. I could NOT stand it for more than 10 minutes!! I felt COOKED! The glare was unbearable! No thank you!

This is what I noticed from test driving both, the fixed glass in Tesla and others has a darker tint, while the Ariya has typical sunroof glass. The difference is the darker tint does reject more heat, but the view out of the glass is dark and looking up looked dark instead of seeing the blue sky. The typical glass lets in the most light and heat, it could be an advantage in the winter, since the sun shine can come in and warm up the interior. The view outward looks more natural since the tint level is low, clear ceramic could be added if more heat rejection is needed.

True.
My neighbor added dark ceramic limo tint to his glass dome. He said it helps but still unbearable during long drive. I can’t believe he paid $1000 for everything tinted on his MY. I paid $350! 😂😂

I've said it before. If the Ariya evolve+ e4orce or empower+ were the same price as a MYLR after rebates, I would take the Ariya without hesitation.
as it is however the MYLR at the time of my purchase from my reservation dealership was going to be a ~$8k difference. not chump change.

the TMY stole everyone's thunder with the big price drop and sudden tax credit eligibility. it's that simple. there's quite a few TMY owners that cancelled their ariya reservations when the TMY price dropped.
it's also a tough sell to someone that's not an avid EV fan to drop $55k for an ariya instead of $40k for a rav4/cr-v/rogue.

For me if I can afford it I get what I want. I don't want to settle and not enjoy something as much or regret my decision because of being cheap.
Alot of people buy a car just because its eligible for the tax credit which is fine but I don't want to buy something just because it's on a discount.

Definitely won't be happy with a tesla. Even it was free I would have to think about lol.

he wasted money. the glass roof in the MY already has heat rejection treatment.

different strokes. whatever EV I ended up with is just A to B transportation for me (and mostly for the wife), to maximize my solar panel power generation. I'd be in a Bolt EUV if the dealers weren't price gouging.
my fun car is always going to have a clutch pedal. however, turns out the MYLR is plenty of fun when I mash the go pedal. I can also pay another $2k to unlock even more power. might do that in the future when I want to "refresh" the car it ever starts to feel stale.
