Volta Charging Stations

Have anyone tried Volta charging stations? I know EA and ChargePoint have been mentioned. The Kohl's store near me seems to have partnered with Volta to put 2 stations in their parking lot. Looking up on their website, they charge idle fees once your charging session ends and grace period for moving vehicle expires.

I've used the Volta charge stations, but not with the Ariya.

FYI I didn't have any issues with it but a friend of mine had the station melt his Tesla's J1772 adapter. Researching it a bit more online and in other forums this seems to have happened to a number of Tesla owners. Since the Ariya doesn't use an adapter the situation wouldn't apply - I presume the Ariya would send an alert and terminate charging if it detected a short or a temperature threshold was exceeded.

Bottom line, I'm now a little wary of Volta and am waiting to see how this all shakes out. Free charging is great, but not if it damages the car or melts accessories.
Thanks Mod for moving the post.
Volta stations seem a little closer, but not free as EVgo, so I guess If I'm in a bind, I could try it.
If it causes accessories to melt, then quality issue is with the connector or with the adapter? That seems odd if they kinda exclude Tesla ppl.

I don't think Volta is excluding anyone on purpose. The working theory is the Volta charge plugs get dirty, maybe due to a design or the way it is stored, resulting in a poor connection with the adapter. Another possibility is the Volta stations tend to be a little higher power (up to 10kw) and most Teslas can accept this max rate. (Many chargers and cars including Ariya are around 7kw.)

The adapters that have been melted have been original Tesla adapters which have been used in many other stations without issue.
