I read a posting recently from someone who was invited, showed up, and then left because of an issue with the app that was required to be loaded onto his smartphone for entry into the event. Not a good look out of the gate, given real concerns about privacy.

I don't blame that person. I don't load apps unless I plan and want to use them long term. You automatically give up your phone number with an app install (that's not even optional) and establish that you have a relationship with the company, which means they can call even if you've signed up for DoNotCall.

My husband and I were actually invited and attended this. Kept masks on the whole time and left immediately after the Ariya presentation. Ignored the drinks and food which everyone did look like they were enjoying. I assumed they would be taking reservations there manually which is the only reason we went. Oh no, they just had QR codes that took you to the same Ariya reservations page that opened to everyone that afternoon. Gave us a chance to look at two models of the car though and it was everything I expected and loved. The app mentioned above, it was only a suggestion to us and was not a requirement to enter. They just checked that we were on the guest list at the driveway entrance and waved us in. Getting back to our no-option-but-valet car was the worst part of the whole night.
