Has anyone heard or seen any info on if Nissan has started building AWD models yet?
Still waiting for my FWD Premiere (April '22 reservation). Last update from dealer was ETA on or about 3/14. We'll see. This is a survey. Please like this post so we can determine who ordered AWD during reservation periods
BTW, who else has not gotten their FWD Ariya that were reservation holders?
No change, and reservation page still says for the AWD, "early 2023". I have a very early reservation id, 13554, so I guess that, in the Portland, OR, I would be slated to get mine first. No change on my reservation page. No vin #, no mfg start date. 😢
jWell if they really go by number. I’m 10596 in San Francisco.
Only time will tell
And it’s time
My take regarding Ariya deliveries is that I’m not confident that Nissan really has a comprehensive game plan since there is no rhyme or reason as to reliable delivery dates or even the order in which reservation numbers are getting delivered first. This fact has been reported by numerous members in this forum. I visited my dealer yesterday to check on the status of my FWD reservation build. (My dealers portal revealed last December that my build was scheduled for February with delivery in March ) As of yesterday March 10, my build seemed to be stuck in that mode and still hadn’t been assigned a VIN or a specific build date ……….although the thought occurred to me on the drive home from the dealership that Nissan may have intended my build date for February 2024?No change, and reservation page still says for the AWD, "early 2023". Wow, that is interesting... Hmmm...Received a call from a local Nissan dealer - the one who told me before that they didn’t expect to see the AWD until the summer. Apparently the AWDs are arriving in a few weeks. He said there are allocations that dealers will be able to hold or even trade with other dealers. I was surprised with this news, but had to tell him that late May would be the soonest for me.
And here’s where it gets fun… He said I could still come in, work up numbers, and once agreed, he would show me the allocation and put the Ariya I chose on hold with my deposit and verifying my credit. I asked for him to explain and he said they wanted to be sure I could purchase the car. I asked what if I had my own financing? They still wanted to run my credit or show I was a strong purchaser. I needed to come in and sit down with them ASAP if I wanted the AWD that he couldn’t tell me was available until I came in… Ariya Forum peeps, I don’t even know what to say here that won’t get me banned.
Instead, I will say that for those interested in the AWD, it may be worth contacting your local Nissan dealer to get an update. If any of what I was told is true, there may be a first come first serve basis for the dealers to get the AWD models. With the pressure attempted, it may be that Nissan will send the vehicles to wherever the orders are. Again, who knows.
Best of luck to everyone!
You know, I wonder if the dealer is actually talking about the Engage trim AWD (can "build and price" on Nissan's website), not the Platinum trim AWD that reservationists have ordered and are patiently waiting for. Just like how they are all stocked up with Engage trim FWD, but lagging behind with filling reservations for the other FWD versions that were available to reserve.Received a call from a local Nissan dealer - the one who told me before that they didn’t expect to see the AWD until the summer. Wish I could tell you. When I asked if either a Platinum+ or Evolve+ were in this batch (which may have made me move to purchase sooner), he said he didn’t know. We would have to look in the system at what was coming available together. So he called me to entice me into the showroom with the news of the AWDs finally coming, I guess. Thing is, the Ariya is no longer top on my list and I certainly wasn’t going to go in only to haggle plus have my credit ran just to put down a deposit. Seems to be a surplus of Engage trims out there, right? Perhaps Nissans’s strategy in the early going is to stretch their depleted battery resources? If you compare the cumulative KW totals - small vs big battery units , nearly 15 Engage units can be produced as compared to only 10 Ariya’s produced with the bigger batteries. You know, I wonder if the dealer is actually talking about the Engage trim AWD (can "build and price" on Nissan's website), not the Platinum trim AWD that reservationists have ordered and are patiently waiting for. When I offered to pay my Evolve+ in full payment, the dealer still had to run my credit report. I think this is a government requirement to make sure you are who you say you are.I asked for him to explain and he said they wanted to be sure I could purchase the car. Yes, lots of Engage + inventory at Tustin Nissan’s lot. They are running a special lease promotion at the moment.Seems to be a surplus of Engage trims out there, right? Unfortunately the actual timing of any specific EV purchase always seems to be in play. At this point in time low priced Tesla trims continue to qualify for up to a $7500 tax credit for potential buyers. Conversely no Ariya trim currently can qualify for any amount of a tax credit (unless the potential buyer is already a reservation holder ).Yes, lots of Engage + inventory at Tustin Nissan’s lot. I think Nissan was reacting to the orders placed by the dealers for Engage+ is why there are so many Engage available.
Since Friday the 13th in January, Tesla turned the industry upside down. Tesla knew Nissan shipments were arriving at the ports in early Jan with much cheaper MSRP.
I fear a lot of people will be triggering audits.Reservation holder or not, the Ariya does not qualify for the federal tax credit.
